/PRCWT/BHAINAN, December 27, 2023 - On December 22, the 13th Wanning International Surfing Competition came to a successful conclusion in Riyue Bay. The event attracted 24 surfing teams and more than 200 competitors from 15 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country to chase the waves in Riyue Bay.
This year's Wanning International Surfing Competition includes two major events: the 2023 National Surfing Championship and the National Surfing U Series Competition. The competition consists of four events: men's short board, women's short board, men's long board, and women's long board. It is divided into open groups, U18 groups, and U15 groups for competition. The event also has team races and relay races.
During the competition, although the temperature dropped, it also ushered in good waves. The waves in Riyuewan were as high as 3 meters, the waves were long and powerful, and the frequency of ups and downs was high. The players showed excellent competitive level. Compared with previous competitions, the competitive level of Qiu Zhuo, Wang Jingwei, Wang Chengzheng, Jin Shuhan and other veteran players has steadily improved. At the same time, the small players represented by Liu Bowen, Guo Jinghan, and Lu Tianyu have also made great progress, and the overall competitive level of Chinese surfing has been greatly improved.
After 7 days of intense competition and multiple rounds of competition, the results of each event have been released. In this event, the Hainan team performed well and was superior in strength. It won a total of 12 gold medals and became the biggest winner of this event. Hebei team and Henan team each won 3 gold medals, Zhejiang team won 2 gold medals, and the Sea Vocational College, Guangdong team and Liaoning team each won a gold medal.
The National Surfing Training Base provided comprehensive logistics support services for each team, ensuring the smooth progress of the competition and improving the quality of the competition. During the competition, many tourists were attracted to the front desk to watch the competition. Every day, dozens of photographers from all over the country took pictures of surfing, and many tourists went to the sea to experience surfing.
The surfing culture is highly compatible with the spiritual core of Hainan Free Trade Port. Wanning City has successfully held 13 international surfing competitions, and has hosted surfing events such as the National Surfing Championship, the National Surfing Championship, and the National Youth Surfing Competition for many consecutive years. Surfing has become a beautiful business card of the Free Trade Port. Next, Wanning City will make every effort to promote the construction of the National Global Tourism Demonstration Zone and the Sports Tourism Demonstration Zone. Focusing on "One Bay and One Product", it will focus on the development of surfing in Riyue Bay, diving in Shimeiwan, and motor boats in Shenzhou Peninsula. It will continue to promote the construction of the "Sports + Tourism + Culture + Consumption" system focusing on surfing, expand and strengthen the Wanning surfing industry chain, and strive to promote the sports tourism industry in Wanning to move towards a 10 billion yuan industry.
