The development of satellite mobile communication is an important part of consolidating the spectrum resources of digital economy development and national public security. 5G NTN(non-ground network) technology is a breakthrough evolution technology in the field of satellite communication, the mainstream direction of the current development of "heaven and earth" satellite-ground integrated communication, and the most preferred option for the realization of commercial satellite communication services in the future. Through the verification of end-to-end full link from satellite, base station to terminal, it is an important part of 5G-ADVANCED.
In the face of the triple challenges of 85% of the world's land and 95% of the ocean without cellular network coverage, the high cost of network construction in remote areas such as uninhabited islands, and the inability to communicate in emergency scenarios,5GNTN allows smartphones and Internet of Things terminals to connect directly to satellites, opening the era of "consumer" satellite communication. In addition, in many fields such as agricultural scenarios, land transportation, energy exploration, energy monitoring, Marine management, wildlife protection, and vehicle networking,5G-NTN can give full play to its expertise, truly realize the interconnection of everything, and enable the digital intelligent transformation of thousands of industries.
Zte is one of the key players in the satellite mobile communication industry, with industry-leading end-to-end product solutions and satellite communication terminals supporting Tiantong satellite calls. Zte has worked closely with operators to actively promote the maturity of 5GNTN technology and industry, deeply participated in the pre-research and network verification of satellite communication related technologies, and actively promoted the commercial landing.
In January this year, ZTE and China Telecom completed the world's first S-band 5GNTN technology field verification, in May completed the first domestic 5GNTN mobile phone direct satellite field verification, and in September, completed the industry's first sea scene 5GNTN test in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, including Marine water quality monitoring, ship supervision, environmental data monitoring, emergency communication and other scenarios. This verification uses Tiantong mobile communication satellites independently developed and launched by China, and domestic 5G base stations and terminals with NTN functions. The system conforms to 3GPP R17NTN international standards, and the test results show good results. This represents the system and system of 5GNTN technology integrating cellular and satellite communication, which can provide universal network coverage for the ocean and remote mountain areas, meet the application requirements of short message, Internet of things, positioning and other applications, and is an important milestone for the first time for 5GNTN technology to be commercialized.
In addition, at the satellite mobile Communication Industry Development Forum of the conference, China Telecom and ZTE Communication and other industry partners jointly issued the "China Telecom 5GNTN Technology White Paper - Earth and Earth, mobile phone direct Connection" white paper, and jointly launched the "Satellite as a service" joint promotion plan. Based on the "Heaven and Earth" live network test, the white paper puts forward the important views of 5GNTN non-ground network +4/5G mobile network + Internet of Things integration network architecture, 3GPP standard protocol tailoring, and mobile phone direct connection evolution route for the first time in China, and expresses the development suggestions of 5GNTN technology, network and terminal industry in combination with the maturity of international and domestic technologies It provides a valuable strategic reference for the future evolution of networks and services.
