/PRZWT/December 16, 2024 Nanning - Recently, the 41st seminar of GTI (Global New Generation Information Communication Technology Cooperation Organization) was held in Nanning, Guangxi. At the meeting, China Mobile Internet of Things Co., Ltd., together with Guangxi Mobile, China Mobile Research Institute, Huawei and other relevant units, based on the 1200-square-meter cellular passive IoT pilot environment built in the previous warehouse of Guangxi Mobile Logistics Center No. 2, conducted a 5G-A cellular passive IoT live demonstration, showcasing the results of the mobile IoT cellular passive IoT asset management application pilot.
GTI is an international industrial cooperation platform initiated by China Mobile, SoftBank, Vodafone (Vodafone) and other operators in 2011, dedicated to promoting 4G evolution, 5G development and cross-industry integration and innovation. More than 100 high-level representatives and industry experts from international organizations, industrial partners, universities and research institutions attended the seminar.
On the basis of demonstrating the capabilities of 5G-A cellular passive IoT signal coverage, networking capabilities, usage scenarios and complexity, this demonstration completed the warehouse production application solution demonstration through the method of "Label (Core Technology) -5G-A Base Station-Platform (China Mobile Passive IoT Management Platform) ". Combined with the actual business requirements such as goods on the shelves and automatic inventory, the advantages of cellular passive IoT in long-distance coverage, strong penetration ability and strong environmental adaptability were fully demonstrated, which triggered a heated discussion among the guests.
5G-A cellular passive IoT is a passive IoT solution launched by the 3GPP camp. Compared with RFID technology, it solves the problems of limited performance, limited scenarios, and low automation faced by traditional RFID through architectural innovation, algorithm innovation, and capability innovation.
The solution uses 5G-A base stations or relay equipment to achieve continuous networking and seamless coverage, and realizes "local area + wide area" full factor, full process, full life cycle visualization, automation, and intelligent management. It can be widely used in asset management, personnel management, warehousing management, production line management, and environmental monitoring in all walks of life. It adopts the design of common standards, common spectrum, and common modules with existing base stations to build an industrial moat.
In the future, China Mobile Internet of Things Co., Ltd., China Mobile Research Institute, and other relevant units of China Mobile will actively promote the 5G-A passive IoT standard layout, strive to expand the scale of the cellular passive IoT ecosystem, and achieve industrial dominance. With the goal of commercial closed-loop, we will strengthen the capabilities of related chips, labels, and platforms, accelerate the process of passive IoT productization, and promote the large-scale implementation of projects.
