As part of the brand's long-term vision and mission, Buhladi Distillery continues to advocate for more sustainable actions in the industry by eliminating unnecessary packaging, reducing carbon emissions, reducing weight and eliminating waste.
Thanks to a business philosophy that focuses on sustainability, reconnecting nature with humanity, and promoting Islay wide processes, Buhladi will further revolutionize the sustainable development process. In keeping with its commitment to reduce packaging and waste, Buhladi Distillery will gradually eliminate unnecessary secondary packaging, starting with its Bouchard products. Eliminating secondary packaging means reducing the amount of steel used in the production process. While tin sheet is one of the most widely recycled materials, the decision to phase out outer packaging altogether will greatly reduce energy use and emissions in production and transportation.Last year, Buhladi Winery encouraged its customers to "use one less tin" by opting out of secondary packaging when buying products. Building on this initiative, the gradual and complete elimination of all Buhladi Bochia packaging was a natural next step, a broader and more challenging move to demonstrate the brand's pioneering spirit in sustainability initiatives.
"We're used to the idea that single malt Scotch whisky has to be packaged nicely, whereas premium gin, vodka and tequila can be bought without extra packaging. While recyclable wine cans are now beautiful, we feel a growing need to take action to influence this shift in perception of quality.
