October 4, 2016. Dr. Yeung Suk-shing, chairman of the King Group, donated 8.6 million yuan to the construction of the new campus of Beijing Chinese Language Institute through the Chinese Language Education Foundation to promote Chinese language education.
Beijing Chinese Language School was founded in 1950. Over the years, Beijing Chinese Language School has helped many returning overseas Chinese to learn Chinese. Now it is affiliated to Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. China Chinese Language Education Foundation is a national public foundation for overseas Chinese language education. It was registered and established in 2004 by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
Dr Yeung has been active in promoting the development of cultural education. In Hong Kong, nine tertiary institutions have been awarded the King's Charitable Fund Scholarships. The Mainland has also donated a number of educational funds, including the "Education Fund of the Ministry of Justice of China", the "Yang Shoucheng Legal Education Fund of China University of Political Science and Law", the "Peking University Education Fund" and the "Xiamen Education Fund", so that those with excellent academic performance can be rewarded and those who are poor and out of school can be reinstated. In addition, he has invested 30 million yuan to establish the "Emperor School of Performing Arts, Shanghai School of Visual Arts, Fudan University", to cultivate a new generation of performing arts potential.
He was awarded the titles of Honorary Professor of Law by China University of Political Science and Law in 1994 and Honorary Consultant of All China Lawyers Association by China Lawyers Association. He was appointed Honorary Board Member by Peking University in 1998. In 2007, he was appointed School Director and Honorary Dean of the King's School of Performing Arts, Shanghai School of Visual Arts, Fudan University. In 2008, he was appointed "Honorary Professor" by Guangdong University of Finance. For him, these titles are not only the recognition of the society, but also a kind of encouragement, further strengthening his determination to promote the development of cultural education.
