/PRZWT/SHENZHEN, July 26, 2024 - When it comes to electric vehicles, range and charging speed are two of consumers' top concerns. The Kia E-GMP platform was designed with these needs in mind, and its 800V high-voltage fast charging system brings unprecedented charging efficiency and range to the EV6.

Fast charging, no fear of battery life anxiety

The 800V high-voltage fast charging system equipped with the EV6 makes it only 18 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. Even for the long-range two-wheel drive version, 4.5 minutes of charging time can increase the range of 100km. This fast charging capability greatly relieves users' battery life anxiety and improves the convenience of daily use.

800V compatibility: seamless integration with existing charging facilities

The multi-functional fast charging system of the GMP platform is compatible with 800V ultra-high-speed charging facilities and existing 400V fast charging infrastructure without additional hardware. This world-first patented technology ensures the stability and compatibility of EV6 in various charging scenarios, providing users with a wider range of charging options.

Most of the fast charging infrastructure currently widely available on the market is for electric vehicles equipped with 400V charging systems. For electric vehicles currently equipped with 800V high-voltage charging systems, other components need to be installed in order to use these fast charging infrastructure. However, the Kia E-GMP platform breaks through this limitation and is equipped with a multi-functional fast charging system that does not require the installation of other parts. It can use 800V ultra-high-speed charging facilities and existing fast charging infrastructure at the same time. The system is also the first patented technology applied to the E-GMP platform worldwide. It makes full use of the vehicle's drive motor and inverter to boost the 400V voltage provided by the charging infrastructure to the 800V voltage most suitable for the vehicle system, thus achieving stable charging compatibility.

In addition, all vehicles developed based on the E-GMP platform will be equipped with the same standardized battery module, which is composed of the highest standard energy density battery. At the same time, the inverter power module of the rear-wheel motor system uses silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors that are more efficient than existing silicon (Si). The system efficiency can be increased by 2% -3%, and the cruising range can be extended by about 5%, that is, it can travel longer distances when equipped with the same number of batteries. Specifically, the 77.4kWh high-energy density ternary lithium battery for EV6 applications has a maximum comprehensive cruising range of 671km (CLTC standard) on a single charge, and is matched with an 800V high-voltage charging system, which can minimize users' anxiety about charging and cruising range.
