However, traditional wind turbine blades are handmade with polymer matrix composites, which are susceptible to irregular and complex load damage, which can lead to reduced power generation, shortened life and increased maintenance costs. Therefore, non-destructive testing (NDT) of wind turbine blades to identify surface and internal defects is necessary to ensure the continuous operation of wind turbines. To this end, the HOTS studio team from Nanchang Hangkong University spent two years innovatively developing the country's first orbit-based cruise inspection drone based on microwave detection technology, which attracted the attention of the industry.
This drone has the advantages of high precision, high efficiency and high cost performance. The four core technologies are all leading in the country. Among them, the R & D rectangular 23.0mm × 10.2mm waveguide probe is matched with the orbit determination cruise system. The detection accuracy of the outer composite material and fiber cloth defects on the windward side, leading edge, trailing edge and other positions of the generator blade can reach 100% full coverage;. In addition, the new microwave detection technology also found cracking at the joint in the wind turbine blade. The application of this technology will greatly improve the efficiency and accuracy of wind power equipment detection, providing strong support for the sustainable development of the wind power industry.
