On the morning of December 2, the 8th Shanghai International Poetry Festival opened at Xujiahui Academy in Xuhui District. Shanghai International Poetry Festival is guided by Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, organized by Shanghai Writers Association and Publicity Department of Shanghai Xuhui District Committee of the Communist Party of China. The theme of this year's Shanghai International Poetry Festival is "Poetry, Facing Artificial Intelligence", which reflects the current literary height of Chinese new poetry.
At the opening ceremony, the results of the 8th Shanghai International Poetry Festival "Golden Magnolia" poetry Award were announced, and Nigerian poet Wole Soyinka won the "Golden Magnolia" poetry Award. Zhao Lihong, Vice chairman of Shanghai Writers Association and Chairman of the Art Committee of Shanghai International Poetry Festival, read the award speech. Mr. Soyinka was accompanied by his wife on the stage to receive the award. Chen Jing, President of Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Ouyang Jianghe, winner of the last "Golden Magnolia" Poetry Award, and Zhao Lihong presented the award to Mr. Soyinka.
