Guangzhou, August 17, 2022 - Breast milk research is an important topic in the global research and development of the dairy industry, which has a direct bearing on the nutrition and health of infants and toddlers. Therefore, on July 15th, China Society of Food Science and Technology organized the "Demonstration of the development and Industrialization of Infant Powder Mixing Based on the Research on Breast Milk in China" (hereinafter referred to as the "Achievement Evaluation meeting"). The project was jointly completed by Feihe Dairy, Institute of Agricultural Products Processing, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Dalian Polytechnic University, and Jiangnan University. The expert committee gave a high evaluation on the innovation of the project and the leading results. At the same time, "The expert committee agreed that the overall research results of the project are in the international leading level!"

Prof. Meng Suhe, Honorary President of Chinese Society of Food Science and Technology; Prof. Zhu Beiwei, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of National Marine Food Engineering and Technology Research Center of Dalian Polytechnic University; Prof. Chen Wei, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Jiangnan University; Prof. Xie Mingyong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Technology of Nanchang University and other 9 experts and scholars participated in the evaluation.

As an important source of nutrition for many infants who cannot be fully breastfed, infant powder is an important industry related to the national economy and people's livelihood. However, for a long time, the development of the industry has been limited by the weak research on breast milk in China, the main dependence on imports of key raw materials, and the lack of formula development and production technology. It is urgent to strengthen basic research, achieve quality improvement and industrial upgrading, and develop infant formula suitable for Chinese babies.

Jiang Shilong, Vice president and chief scientist of China Flying Crane Research Institute, gave a detailed report from the aspects of project establishment background and general idea, innovation points and technical content, application and promotion and economic and social benefits. The participating experts carefully reviewed and commented the project materials of "Development and Industrialization Demonstration of Infant Powder Mixture based on Breast Milk Research in China", and put forward guidance on the content and innovation points of the project, and conducted in-depth communication and exchange with the project team.

It has made major breakthroughs in the detection technology of key breast milk components and the establishment of Chinese breast milk database, the separation, preparation and activity maintenance technology of key ingredients of infant formula milk powder, the development of infant powder and the key technology of feeding effect evaluation, etc. We have developed more suitable products for Chinese babies, such as Xingfei Fan, and published dozens of high-level articles in international journals, which are unanimously recognized by consumers and domestic and foreign peers.
