/ Daily News/August 04, 2022 Guangzhou -- ZF Group has made another major investment move in China. On August 3rd, the Group's ZF Automotive Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. signed a new phase of investment agreement with Shanghai Anting Economic Development Center to expand the product variety and production capacity of electronic power steering system (EPS) in China, and continue to be optimistic about the Chinese automotive industry. With a total investment of RMB320 million in the first phase of the newly signed project, ZF will expand the production of electronic power steering system (EPS) products by adding approximately 4,000 square meters of floor space to its existing plant in Anting Town, Shanghai. The project is scheduled to begin production in mid-2023. In 2024, new EPS sales are expected to increase by about 1 billion yuan over 2022 sales.
ZF electronic power steering system (EPS) has the advantages of perfect product category distribution, excellent steering performance and high fault tolerant product architecture. It supports the automatic driving function above L3 level. It is a model of applying the latest electronic technology and high-performance motor control technology to automotive steering system, which can significantly improve the dynamic and static performance of vehicles. Improve the driver's comfort and safety while driving, at the same time EPS electronic application and reduce the required energy consumption, effectively improve the environmental protection level of the product. Zf continues to successfully introduce closed-loop torque control logic into the product, providing dual redundant controller motor assembly EPP systems for autonomous driving capabilities above L3 level and mechanical systems with higher rack force to meet customer needs for next-generation mobility and a broader market prospect.
As an industry leader, ZF always synchronizes the global product technology and its updates and iterations in the Chinese market at the fastest speed. After successfully producing electronic power steering systems locally in 2010, ZF completed the introduction of the first electronic power steering system in China to a Chinese vehicle manufacturer in 2012. Subsequently, ZF has been maintaining a high quality level of service to local customers. This year, we will continue to mass-produce dual-redundant steering products that meet the L3 /L4 autonomous driving capabilities. Assist the Oems to complete the mission of vehicle autonomous driving upgrade. In 2022, ZF has obtained the steering-by-wire business from local customers and implemented the global steering-by-wire import strategy simultaneously. Dr. Holger Klein, ZF Group Director, said: "China is the world's largest automotive market, and it is dynamic and resilient. We are confident of our development in China. As a multinational company, we have always been an integral part of China's economic and social development. Zf Group will continue to invest in China to lead the next generation of mobility."
