Van Gogh and Monet were fascinated by it. Now, a 300-year reconstruction of Edo is underway.
On July 16, "Floating City Fun -- 19th Century Classic Ukiyo-e Exhibition" opened in the Art Museum of China Resources Art Center, Shenzhen. This is a "collision" between art and modern technology. Through work display + immersive scene construction, it presents a "ukiyo-e" full of presence and texture to art lovers and young artists. Let the audience travel through time and dream back to Edo.
Science and technology support "immersive space" to feel the shocking power of art
The ukiyo-e works on display in this exhibition, in addition to reproducing the ukiyo-e golden age masterpieces, another highlight is the "immersive experience exhibition space". In the super large space of 650 square meters, digital images, original works of masters, virtual and real scenes, and stage effects are integrated to create an immersive art exhibition.
23 engineering projection devices combine the three walls and the ground into a 270° immersive space, in which the audience is exposed to the spectacular scenery of Edo in the changing seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter, surrounded by beauty, and confronted with the crowd of demons. What is most shocking is the immersion appreciation of the famous ukiyo-e painting "Surfing Kanagawa".The waves roll and rise, and across the surf a great "fish" emerges and sinks. Being in it, one feels that one is also enveloped by the huge waves. One can't help worrying about whether one will be overturned by the "oncoming" waves in the next second. One feels as if one is really in the "painting" and traverses the 300 years of the rise and fall of ukiyo-e with one's heart.
