Zeiss joined hands with Aier for 100 prominent myopia patients

On May 28, 2016, the International Symposium on Refractive Surgery (IRSS) was held in Guangzhou by Zeiss and Aier Ophthalmology. During the meeting, Zeiss Group and Aier Ophthalmology jointly announced that they will launch the "Thanksgiving all China Love Eyes Femtoseconds" for 100 myopic people who have made outstanding contributions to society.

The number of nearsighted people in China will exceed 700 million by 2020

By 2050, 5 billion of the world's nearly 10 billion people could be short-sighted, according to the Warbourne Center for Vision Research in Australia. In China, the deteriorating situation of visual health is serious, and visual impairment has become a major public health issue in China. According to experts, under the current visual health policy environment, the number of people suffering from myopia in China is expected to reach 704 to 711 million by 2020, which will be twice the population of the United States.

In order to cope with the increasingly severe visual health problems, Zeiss Group and Aier held the Myopia Surgery and Correction Technology International Summit Forum in Guangzhou to build an international communication platform in the field of ophthalmology, and invited domestic and foreign experts in the field of ophthalmology to communicate on the development of myopia surgery, the application of new technologies and future trends, and seek solutions.
