The theme of this year's poetry festival is "Poetry in the World, Harmony and Difference." No matter what language is spoken, no matter what environment you live in, poetry is everywhere. "Harmony and Difference": Peace, harmony, reconciliation, harmony are the common pursuit of human beings, and it is also the meaning of poetry. The characteristics of "Harmony" are mutual tolerance, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and symbiosis and mutual growth. "

The theme of this poetry festival is to invite poets from all over the world to offer beautiful poetry, eulogize the common ideals of mankind, and show the diversity and creativity of poetry in a colorful style. This year coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and the exchange and interaction of Chinese and French poetry is an important content of this poetry festival. Sixty years of Sino-French literary and artistic exchanges show that the creativity of literature and poetry between the two countries is stimulated and cultivated through mutual learning and continuous interaction.
The purpose of the Shanghai International Poetry Festival is to use poetry as a bridge, open up channels for international literary exchanges, and spread the cultural spirit of "harmony but difference" that Chinese culture has always advocated, so that the world can understand China more widely and truly.
The guiding unit of this poetry festival is the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the organizers are the Shanghai Writers Association and the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Xuhui District Committee of the Communist Party of China.

On Nov. 30, the opening ceremony of the 9th Shanghai International Poetry Festival and the "Golden Magnolia" Poetry Award Ceremony will be held at Xujiahui Academy in Xuhui District.
