/PRZWT/BEIJING,November 6,2024-On November 3,at the invitation of the head of the physics department of Tsinghua University,Zhang Chaoyang,founder,chairperson and CEO of Sohu,and a doctor of physics,went to the physics department of Tsinghua University to give a lecture on physics.Coinciding with the third anniversary of"Zhang Chaoyang's Physics Lessons"going LIVE,he returned to his alma mater with his new popular science work,deduced the quantum mechanics principles of nuclear magnetic resonance in the third volume of the new book,and carried out a unique offline class.
Zhang Chaoyang summed up the motivation for the physics class to persist for three years:with the significance of doing this,the interest in physics,and the stimulation of live interactive learning.He said that physics popularization is a new attempt of his in recent years.Through the three-dimensional new media combination of live broadcasts,short videos,text and books,the basic physics knowledge in the ivory tower has become a cultural phenomenon of public concern,and has achieved relatively good results.

Zhang Chaoyang,who returned to the physics department of Tsinghua University decades after graduation,was very emotional.He laughed and said that he went to the lecture hall of the physics department of Tsinghua University to lecture on physics.This meaningful physics class lasted nearly four hours and was as hard-core as ever.
This offline class focuses on nuclear magnetic resonance,which is known as the"Nobel Prize Harvester".As an example of the success of quantum theory in industrial practice,it is behind the significant progress of basic science and engineering technology.During the live broadcast,Zhang Chaoyang used the"eighteen martial arts"of quantum mechanics to solve the spin system in the background of various magnetic fields.For the change of magnetic moment in the rotating magnetic field,there is a challenge that energy is no longer conserved and conventional methods fail.Zhang Chaoyang cleverly introduced"reference frame change"and successfully obtained the core formula of MRI technology.He emphasized that"nuclear magnetic resonance is the resonance of the spin of the proton,which has nothing to do with nuclear radiation."
Later,Zhang Chaoyang and the students at the scene further discussed the theoretical principles and applications of nuclear magnetic resonance.Zhang Chaoyang explained that the signal strength and frequency of nuclear magnetic resonance are related to the number of protons and the environment in which they are located,and can"see through"the structure of matter with considerable accuracy.He also pointed out that unlike X-rays,nuclear magnetic resonance detection technology is more powerful and complex,but because the magnetic field is too strong to cause metal magnetization,it is very dangerous to do MRI scans without metal.
Some students at the scene said that they had been impacted by the whole process of hard-core derivation of"Teacher Zhang".As a graduate of nuclear magnetic resonance,they had never deduced these basic principle formulas.This course followed"Teacher Zhang"to derive from the most basic state space."I feel Teacher Zhang's focus on physics science."
Physics class starts three years of motivation:meaning,interest,and live interaction
On the day of the event,in the newly completed physics building of Tsinghua University,Zhang Chaoyang also presented the series of books"Zhang Chaoyang's Physics Lessons"to his alma mater as"an outstanding alumnus of the physics department of Tsinghua University".Duan Wenhui,head of the physics department of Tsinghua University,presented Zhang Chaoyang with a commemorative certificate,saying that as an entrepreneur,it is very rare for him to find time to do science popularization,"China needs such people."In August last year,Zhang Chaoyang also returned to his alma mater to give a speech,which led to the opening of the physics class college special session.

At the scene,college students asked why they used the teaching style of formula derivation.Zhang Chaoyang expressed his hope to use his own research on formulas to immerse everyone in the understanding of serious science popularization.He believes that physics is a subject that must be calculated,and it is impossible to understand the essence behind it without personal calculation.He also said that although the physics class studies the existing theory of history,there will be some changes in the processing path,such as the estimation of the density of stars when calculating the Chandrasekhar limit of white dwarfs.For example,the Kirschner formula of dual space can also be used for the derivation of straight space.
Looking back on the three years of physics class going LIVE,Zhang Chaoyang summed up the motivation for insisting on physics science popularization with three keywords:"meaningful interest","interest"and"live interactive".He said that it is with the meaning of doing this,the interest in physics,and the stimulation of live interactive learning that his physics study is extremely efficient."In three years,he quickly touched the basic physics."He hopes to contribute to the content of physics on the Chinese Internet in video and text,"with a sense of accomplishment."In the future,he will continue to study attractive force waves and cosmology on the basis of general relativity.
