Huzhou, July 3, 2024 - On June 29, Huzhou East Traction Substation, the first traction substation of the Shanghai-Suhu High-speed Railway, participated in by China Railway Electrification Bureau Group Co., Ltd., was successfully powered, and the equipment inside was charged and started, marking the official start of the power transmission work of the Shanghai-Suhu High-speed Railway Traction Power Supply Project, laying a solid foundation for the next step of catenary power transmission and hot skating tests.

It is understood that the traction substation is a bridge connecting the power supply system of the State Grid and the electrified railway, and plays the role of converting and distributing electric energy, which is called the "heart" of the electrified railway. Its function is to convert the voltage of the power system transmission line from 220 kV to 27.5 kV used by the electric locomotive, and transmit the electric energy to the catenary through the feeder. After the electric locomotive is raised, it can obtain electricity from the catenary to pull the locomotive.

In order to ensure the success of the first substation's power-receiving work once and fully meet the standards, the project department established a leading group for power-receiving start-up, prepared a power-receiving start-up plan, strengthened coordination and communication with the State Grid Corporation, carefully checked the preparations before power-receiving, and rehearsed the power-sending procedures and steps. After the power-receiving was successful, the technicians carefully checked the main transformers, circuit breakers and other key equipment in the substation, and the results showed that the parameters were up to standard and the equipment was operating normally.

The Husu Lake high-speed rail line leads from Shanghai Hongqiao Station, passing through Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and ends at Huzhou Station, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The total length of the line is 163.8 kilometers, and the design speed is 350 kilometers per hour. The whole line has 8 stations including Shanghai Hongqiao, Shanghai Songjiang, Liantang, Suzhou South, Shengze, Huzhou Nanxun, Huzhou East, and Huzhou Station. The Husu Lake high-speed rail line is a fast rail channel connecting Shanghai, Suzhou, Huzhou and other cities. After the project is completed and operated, it will further improve the regional road network layout and effectively relieve the transportation pressure of the Shanghai-Nanjing and Shanghai-Hangzhou railway channels. It is of great significance for promoting the economic and social development along the line and the high-quality development of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta.
