On November 24, Tencent Cloud released a new generation of star Sea server. Based on the high-density design and hardware upgrade of the self-developed server, the corresponding cloud server SA5 is the world's first public cloud instance with the fourth-generation AMD EPYC processor (Bergamo), which has 128 Zen4c cores per slot. The maximum instance specification of Star Sea SA5 has jumped from the industry's common 256vCPU to 512vCPU, doubling the core density, and the overall performance is currently the world's leading. At the same time, the cost performance of Star Sea SA5 is more than 30% higher than that of the general calculation scheme in the industry, achieving the ultimate cost performance.

Tencent Cloud Star Sea server has always been a popular cloud product of Tencent Cloud computing: in the past three years, the application scale of Star Sea AMD models has increased by tens of millions of cores, and Star Sea series products have steadily served Tencent's internal and external businesses such as Tencent advertising, QQ, micro alliance, and small Red book. Every year, "Double 11", Star Sea has become the preferred computing platform for e-commerce enterprises, supporting the computing power needs in 90% of scenarios; It has supported the 8-day expansion of the Tencent conference by one million cores, ensuring the meeting needs of 130 countries and regions around the world and tens of millions of users.

Star Sea SA5 is suitable for container adaptation, high-performance database, AI reasoning, deep computing and other scenarios. The high-density server design not only makes the overall performance jump to the world's leading, but also can meet the growing demand for horizontal expansion cloud load, and drive cloud-native scenarios such as containers on a larger scale. It also means that all current customer applications in SA5 can be deployed in a consistent memory access environment, reducing memory access latency by about 50%, which will bring great system performance improvements.

On the basis of self-developed Star Sea server architecture, Star Sea SA5 is also based on Tencent Cloud self-developed DPU Silver fir, reducing virtualization loss to zero, relying on computing advantages to allow customers to enjoy cost-effective computing power; And relying on Tencent Cloud self-developed large-scale cloud computing distributed operating system, Logi, to provide ultra-high stability and reliability, cloud server availability across the availability zone guarantee up to 99.995%, to maintain the high availability of enterprise business.

In addition to the overall performance and cost performance, the Star Sea SA5 example has leading performance in storage performance, network performance and security protection.

In terms of network performance, the new generation of servers are fully based on self-developed DPU Silver Fir, providing up to 200Gbps network bandwidth and 45 million PPS, with latency as low as 5us, which can provide superior network performance for high-traffic and high-forwarding network application scenarios. Continuous breakthrough in storage performance, providing low latency, high performance, and highly reliable storage capabilities with latency as low as tens of microseconds, and excellent performance in IO-intensive business scenarios such as large databases and Elasticsearch.
