/PRCWT/Beijing, November 22, 2023 - Recently, during the "2023 Guangzhou Auto Show", Horizon for the first time disclosed some product information of the new generation series of vehicle intelligent computing solutions - Journey 6, and announced a number of mass production intention partners.
Among them, BYD, the current leader of new energy, stands out in the list, leading the announcement of becoming the first batch production intention to cooperate with car companies on the journey.
Horizon revealed that the Journey 6 series chip is the industry's first series of on-board intelligent computing solutions covering the full range of intelligent driving needs from low to high, which is based on the latest BPU Nash computing architecture developed by Horizon.
The Journey 6 series will be officially unveiled in April 2024, with first production vehicle deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2024.
At the scene of the auto show, BYD representatives came to the platform and said that BYD, as the first batch production intention of the 6 series, will join hands with Horizon and continue to start from the real needs of users to open a new stage of intelligent driving development.
As a huge starter in the domestic car smart chip market, BYD has reached a comprehensive mass production cooperation plan with it early.
As early as March 2021, the two sides officially launched strategic cooperation.
In April 2022, BYD also announced a fixed-point cooperation project with Horizon for Journey 5 chips, and plans to use the chip to create an integrated solution for the mass production of high-class intelligent driving.
During the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year, the two sides also jointly announced the progress of cooperation based on Journey 5, and the Han EV champion version was also displayed at the horizon booth as BYD's "intelligent representative" model.
In the past three years, the two sides have reached platform cooperation based on the journey series of chips, realized the mass production of a number of intelligent models, and a number of new cars are ready to go. For example, BYD Denza N7, which has sold a lot this year, is based on the Horizon journey 3 chip, and is standard equipped with L2 level auxiliary driving functions, with LCC, light lane change and other cruise functions.
With the opening of the second half of the intelligent, the industry has changed significantly, the role of the digital base of the car chip is becoming more prominent, and the importance of the car chip manufacturers is increasing.
Journey 6 series on this basis, how to open a new stage of intelligent driving development?
As the only automotive group with full price segment layout in China, BYD's intelligent driving development products are rich and functional differentiation is large, and conventional vehicle chips are difficult to fully meet the needs of BYD's unified digital base.
At the same time, BYD believes that the design of intelligent driving products should focus on ensuring safety, reducing or even eliminating traffic accidents, reducing casualties, and saving lives, so it will also inject this mission into the design of intelligent driving products.
Therefore, based on the unified computing architecture, covering the full level of intelligent driving mass production development needs of the journey 6 series, is expected to become the common choice of BYD's multi-product line, and make its products occupy a favorable position in the increasingly fierce high-end intelligent driving competition, to create a truly reliable and usable intelligent driving function.
Wang Chuanfu has repeatedly pointed out that "the first half of new energy vehicles is electric, the second half is intelligent."
The continuous in-depth cooperation with the horizon will become a major push for BYD to win from the first half to the second half.
