Say goodbye to these Battlefield titles next month

/PRCWT/Guangzhou, March 22, 2023——EA is preparing to sunset a handful of classic Battlefield games as Battlefield 1943, in addition to Bad Company 1 and Bad Company 2 will be delisted in the very near future. What does this mean exactly?

Well for starters, EA is putting an expiration date on the online features of these three games. Once these online features shut down, players will no longer be able to enjoy them. This is the unfortunate way of the world in games these days. As no online game can have a bustling player base forever. With regards to these three Battlefield games, EA plans to shut down the online services on December 8 of this year. All three Battlefield games however will be delisted much earlier than that.

EA confirms that all three titles will be pulled from digital storefronts on April 28. So players will have just over a month to purchase them before they disappear from online stores forever.

Obviously, this kind of thing tends to not sit well with some gamers. Those who enjoy these particular titles, for example. But also those who have a passion for ensuring that the history of video games are preserved. It also showcases the urgency and the importance of preserving games so they’re not just… lost to time.

The Battlefield games will be delisted, but offline play will remain

Although the online gameplay will shut down at the end of this year, players can still enjoy parts of these titles. EA says that the single player campaigns and any offline features can still be accessed for Bad Company 1 and Bad Company 2. Even after the online play disappears.

That’s more than enough reason to consider grabbing these games digitally if you don’t own them physically. Bad Company 1 and 2 are two of the best Battlefield campaigns in the franchise. And are well worth picking up for the $14.99 and $19.99 prices. Bad Company can be picked up on the Xbox store for $14.99, while Bad Company 2 is $19.99 on Steam or the EA app. Battlefield 1943 is also available on Xbox for $9.99.
