Guangzhou, August 05, 2022 -- BOE(BOE)VUSION series of electronic price tag products has been awarded a carbon footprint verification and assessment report by SGS, the third-party testing, inspection and certification agency, which calculates the energy consumption of the full life cycle carbon footprint of electronic price tag products. As the first carbon footprint assessment report of electronic price tag products in the global retail sector, this award lays a technical foundation for carbon disclosure, carbon footprint standard formulation, carbon emission management system construction and improvement, and leads the low-carbon development of the smart retail industry.

The carbon footprint assessment of the electronic price tag is based on ISO 14067:2018 Greenhouse Gas Emissions - Product Carbon Footprint - Requirements and Guidelines for quantification and Communication formulated and published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the British Standards Institute (BSI), and PAS 2050:2011 Standards for the Assessment of greenhouse Gas Emissions of Products and Services during the life cycle. The assessment results are obtained by adopting the whole life cycle assessment scheme, covering all stages of raw materials, manufacturing, distribution and retail, consumer use, and final waste or recycling. A 1.6-inch electronic price tag is taken as an example. Its life-cycle carbon footprint is 0.1398 kg CO2e.

BOE electronic price tag, as a paperless display, greatly reduces the material waste of paper labels. According to the calculation of greenhouse gas emission coefficient set (2022) for the whole life cycle of Chinese products, taking 2.6 inch electronic price tag as an example, it reduces about 67% carbon emission compared with traditional paper labels. In addition, the low power consumption electronic paper display technology used by BOE electronic price tag has the characteristics of low power consumption, visible in sunlight, healthy eye protection, unified management of background, low labor cost, etc. compared with the traditional display technology, which has achieved the ultimate green and low carbon. At present, BOE electronic price tags have been widely used in the global retail field. By 2021, the global shipments of the products are nearly 300 million, and the price changes 5 billion times every year, which is equivalent to saving 6,000 tons of paper and protecting more than 100,000 trees, which is equivalent to reducing carbon emissions and absorbing 1,800 tons of carbon emissions. Under the background that the world has gradually stepped into the low-carbon era and the country has proposed the "3060" double carbon target, BOE electronic price tag enables the smart retail industry with innovative technology, gives full play to the advantages of low-carbon and environmental protection, and reflects the value of corporate social responsibility.

Bai Feng, Vice President and general manager of Smart Retail business of BOE(BOE), said: "This SGS carbon footprint assessment report provides a standardized reference for BOE to accurately calculate the greenhouse gas emissions of its products, which is conducive to the realization of double-carbon goals at the enterprise level." As an innovative Internet of Things enterprise committed to co-existence with the environment and active practice of the concept of green development, BOE has been actively concerned about global environmental issues and has taken multiple measures in double carbon work with remarkable results. In 2021, BOE(BOE) established the Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutral project team to actively promote carbon neutral pilot projects and effectively promote the work of dual carbon. In terms of carbon management and addressing climate change, China has carried out actions in the areas of efficient use of resources, development of clean energy, and exploration and implementation of energy-saving projects. It has carried out 285 energy-saving and emissions-reduction projects focusing on conserving electricity, natural gas and other resources, saving 206,040,100 kilowatt-hours of electricity, 6,085,500 cubic meters of water, and 2,273,300 cubic meters of natural gas.

In the future, BOE will actively practice the concept of green and low-carbon development, continue to promote the construction of low-carbon standards through innovation and technology, and enable the ecological, green and sustainable development of the industry.
