During the "Computing Network Innovation and Development" sub-forum of 2022 China Computing Conference, Sun Shaoling, deputy general manager of China Mobile Cloud Capability Center, said in an interview with the media that mobile cloud is accelerating from "distributed cloud" to "computing network". In the future, we hope to cooperate with partners to jointly build a computing network technology system and accelerate the maturity of the computing network industry. Driven by policy and market, cloud moves from centralized to distributed

With the full opening of the era of digital economy, computing power as an important "base" support, enabling function is increasingly prominent, becoming the core competitiveness of this era. China Mobile actively responded to the national policy call of "accelerating the construction of digital China", accelerated the construction of a new information service system of "connection + computing power + capability", formulated the overall development strategy of computing power network, and put forward a new development plan of computing power network.

As the strategic basic business of China Mobile, mobile cloud plays a key role in the construction of "connection + computing power + capability" computing power network. On the one hand, mobile cloud for CHBN's various applications or services, actually plays a base and carrier role. On the other hand, as the main entry and brand of ToB business, as well as the bearer platform and distribution platform of business, mobile cloud also acts as a key entry.

Cloud is a very important carrier of computing. Under the dual drive of policy and market, cloud is moving from centralized to distributed. Sun Shaoling said that in terms of policy, "dual carbon" makes the construction of resource pools subject to the distribution of carbon indicators, and there is dislocation between demand and supply. "Counting in the East and counting in the west" promotes the allocation of computing power, promotes green energy conservation, and guides the orderly distribution. In terms of market services, 5G commercial use will promote the development of intelligent manufacturing, autonomous driving and other new businesses, requiring cloud computing to extend from the center to the edge, meet the needs of low delay, large bandwidth and wide connectivity, and stimulate the demand for nearby access.

Distributed cloud has been the general trend of cloud computing development. In order to follow this trend, in November 2021, China Mobile Cloud Capability Center officially announced the "mobile cloud technology kernel 2.0 distributed cloud", realizing the comprehensive upgrade of "distributed cloud resource layout, high availability of multiple AZs in key regions, comprehensive optimization of network architecture, and cloud native software architecture". At the same time, the mobile cloud continues to promote the N+31+X resource layout, that is, N central resource pools and 31 provincial resource pools, to build cloud-edge collaborative computing power, build the "big cloud operating system" technology system, and promote the rapid development of business with distributed cloud.

The future of computing power is a distributed layout, but it can not be ignored that distributed cloud in helping the digital transformation of various industries, but also brought a lot of challenges. Sun Shaoling mainly focuses on resource application, resource management and application development. Distributed application involves resource application from multiple resource pools, and the process is complicated. The management of remote and heterogeneous resources is complex and difficult to flexibly expand or shrink according to service load. Resources are distributed across wide areas, and the system architecture design is highly complex.

Computing network, the new mission of distributed cloud

Computing network is the upgraded version of cloud network convergence, but also the next stage of distributed cloud forward.

At present, mobile cloud has started from many aspects, such as architecture, resources, capabilities, etc., to build a foundation for computing network. In terms of technical architecture, mobile cloud has proposed the technical architecture planning of "large (large scale high availability)- wide (distributed cloud)- integration (computing network)", evolving from cloud network collaboration to cloud network integration. In terms of resource construction, mobile cloud supports the construction of edge nodes. By 2022, nodes in Ningxia, Qinghai, Tibet and other western provinces will be built to achieve 100% coverage of all provinces in the country, fully matching the eight major hub plans of "East number and west calculation". Meanwhile, more than 1,000 edge cloud nodes are planned to be built, and 100% coverage of cities and prefectures will be achieved by 2023.

According to Sun Shaoling, the mobile cloud aims at computing power network, turning massive heterogeneous distributed computing power into a "supercomputer" with infinite capacity, always-on, intelligent and efficient, ready to use. Following the development pace of the computing network, the new computing network service capability has been initially formed in accordance with the three stages of "ubiquitous collaboration, integration and unity, and integration and symbiosis".

In the sub-forum of "Computing network Innovation and Development", China Mobile released "Computing network Service 1.0", focusing on cloud products and services, key technology research and other aspects to build a computing service system covering cloud, network, edge and end, enabling the digital transformation of thousands of industries, which also opened a new era of transformation from cloud services to computing network services. From the perspective of mobile cloud, facing the goal of "ubiquitous collaboration" stage, Sun Shaoling interprets the specific connotation of computing network service 1.0 from four aspects:

• Multi-AZ high-quality computing power new architecture to create high availability computing network services. The distribution of distributed resources was optimized, the computing power covered the whole country, and more than 1000 marginal nodes were sunk to four types of cities; 3AZs are upgraded in four hotspot regions. The product supports cross-AZ services to meet the high availability requirement of uninterrupted enterprise services.

• Full series of cloud network integration of new products, launched the "five new" SPN slicing special line. Cloud network integration is one of the characteristics of computing network, and also the advantage of operators. On the one hand, the cloud private network as the base, improve the cloud network integration product system, enrich the way into the cloud; On the other hand, based on SPN technology, sliccloud special line is built to meet the needs of different industries for cloud access and provide convenient, inclusive and high-quality connection services.

• Build new capability for resource orchestration based on operator open API. Computing power includes a variety of heterogeneous computing power of ABCDNETS, which requires more efficient and flexible arrangement and combination capabilities. Based on mobile cloud product API, resource scheduling capabilities of global orchestration and intelligent scheduling are built for business scenarios to realize rapid construction of computing network products and solutions. The evolution to the network brain lays a foundation for the arrangement and scheduling of ABCDNETS.

Enable 5G industry solutions and innovate cloud collaborative computing network applications. The 9one platform built by China Mobile, which encapsulates hot industry applications based on network computing capability, successfully supports the landing of 5G solution benchmarking projects through integrated delivery. At present, there are more than 300 group leading demonstration benchmarking projects, the expansion of 4400+ private network projects, the precipitation of 100+ application scenarios, and the signing of 11,000+ 5G commercial cases; In the future, it will innovate cloud collaborative application based on computing network and expand new computing network solutions in 5G x cloud industry.

Build a new model of computing network service and promote the prosperous development of computing network

From "distributed cloud" to "computing network", mobile cloud faces the biggest challenge in business model.

Sun Shaoling believes that computer power network brings the fundamental change of service mode from "resource type" to "task type". The "resource-based" business model has achieved great success in the past many years. However, with the development of computing network, there are more and more heterogeneous computing types, especially with the increased demand of the network in the middle, which makes it more and more complicated for users. "Task-based" service is a service model that pays for results. It analyzes customers' actual business needs through the network brain, matches and schedules the best plan from massive resources, completes tasks and achieves customers' expectations.

Task-based service can simplify the opening process, reduce the threshold of use, but also avoid the waste of resources, reduce the cost of users. It ensures that results are completed on time and in quantity, implements cross-domain elastic scheduling, and ensures service SLAs. It applies to batch processing jobs and complex resource construction scenarios. The realization of task-based service mode means that the computer power network can really solve users' pain points, which is a qualitative upgrade compared with the original traditional cloud network services. After in-depth exploration, mobile cloud forms two scene cases based on task-based "East view west" and "middle training and edge pushing", and builds a new task-based service model.

As a system engineering, computing network should be developed, planned, implemented and perfected. Sun Shaoling said in the interview that mobile cloud has formed a clear idea and plan for the evolution of computing network. In terms of technological innovation, it mainly focuses on four key directions:

• One is the computing network brain, which is the core of the computing power network. The mobile cloud super computing network brain can support the whole business of computing network integration in the upward direction, and pull the resources of computing network in the downward direction. With the new "task-type" service mode, it is committed to realizing "the cheapest computing power matches the most appropriate application", helping users to focus their business and develop more efficiently. • The second is the original calculation network, it is the best technology to support the calculation force and network like water and electricity, so that the application is born in the calculation network, longer than the calculation network. Recently, Yunnong and China Information and Communication Institute have jointly started compiling the white paper of cloud native application oriented to computing network. Based on the biochemical scenario of application cloud, the cloud native application methodology (E-CNA) will be launched to analyze the evolution process of cloud native to computing network native, and help enterprises realize the transformation and upgrading from upper cloud to ultimate cloud.

• The third is unified management of heterogeneous computing power. Mobile cloud promotes the isomerization and diversified development of computing power kernel, unified management of heterogeneous computing power resources, establishment of trusted authentication mechanism, realization of the security of the computing network, and unified scheduling in actual business, promoting efficient collaboration of computing power resources. • The fourth is SDN technology research. We will tackle the new generation of SDN network technology and carry out the transformation of cloud private networks into services. The next generation of SDN networks built by mobile cloud will provide users with a new experience of network acceleration with the help of more flexible and efficient technologies.
