China's electronic information Expo CITE 2021 officially opened in Shenzhen today. Under the theme of "Innovation-driven, high-quality development", the expo has brought several pavilions, including big data storage. As the world's leading data storage company, Western Digital participated in the 2021 Shenzhen Big Data & Storage Summit and Exhibition, and introduced Ultrastar enterprise-class storage products, demonstrating Western Digital's leadership in the storage industry.
At the CITE Big Data Storage Summit, Mr. Liu Gang, Vice President and general Manager of China Business of Western Digital Corporation, also delivered a speech with the theme of "Innovative Storage Architecture, Breaking the bottleneck of IPFS computing Power". Mr. Liu Gang said that Western Digital adopts innovative storage architecture, which can help enterprises solve the problems of low data throughput, low space utilization, high total cost of ownership, and inefficient operation and maintenance in the distributed storage field of decentralized IPFS. For IPFS decentralized distributed storage, Western Digital can provide customers with complete solutions to help enterprises break through the limitations of IPFS computing power.
With the development of artificial intelligence technology, cloud computing and other technologies, enterprise-level storage demand has ushered in a large scale growth, but enterprises not only need to store more data, but also need high-performance storage demand, and also pursue the ultimate total cost of ownership.
In order to meet the diversified storage needs of enterprise customers, Western Digital innovatively puts forward the concept of hierarchical storage, and divides data into five layers according to different storage needs, namely extremely hot storage, hot storage, warm storage, cold storage and extremely cold storage. As one of the few hard disk manufacturers in the industry that can provide full-line storage technology from chip to system, Western Digital can provide different types of storage products and devices for different layers of data requirements, while meeting customers' needs for fast data access and overall cost reduction. At Western Digital's booth, we also saw the introduction of Ultrastar DC HC550 HDD for cold storage, Ultrastar DC SN640 for warm storage, and Ultrastar DC SN840 for extremely hot storage.
Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC550 HDD uses helium sealing technology and EAMR technology to reduce power consumption and increase magnetic record storage density. The HC550 can hold up to 18 terabytes, providing 29% more capacity per disk, 22% fewer servers, 21% less power per terabyte, and 11% less overall cost of ownership than a typical 14 terabyte mechanical hard drive.
Western Digital Ultra DC SN640 NVMe SSD delivers up to 469K IOPS for mixed 70% read / 30% write workloads, leading the market for server and cloud isothermal storage applications. The SN840 is further improved on the SN640, providing a maximum of 780K/250K random read/write IOPS, achieving 50% read/write performance. The SN840 can accelerate cloud computing and ensure the running of servers for critical service applications, and is suitable for hot storage applications. These two enterprise NVMe SSDS are available in different formats and capacities to meet the needs of different enterprises.
In addition, on the booth of Western Digital, we also saw IPFS distributed storage solutions jointly launched by Western Digital Alliance Inspur, Suiyan, Starstar, Great Wall Hypercloud, Smart, UIT Innovation Science and other partners. These solutions adopted Western Digital Ultrastar enterprise-level storage products. Compared with traditional storage solutions, it can not only It provides higher storage performance and can effectively reduce enterprise Ctos.
For example, the IPFS solution created by Western Digital, Inspur and Starstar Trina uses Western Digital Ultrastar DC SN840 SSD, Ultrastar Data60 JBOD storage platform and DC The HC550 hard disk significantly saves server procurement, cabinet space, and power consumption, reduces the probability of data loss or damage, and reduces exceptions. Through these solutions displayed at the Western Digital booth, we can see that Western Digital's storage products and storage platforms have been widely used in the industry.
In this exhibition, Western Digital fully demonstrated its leading strength in the storage field. We also expect that Western Digital can continue to promote the development of storage technology in the industry and bring more excellent storage solutions in the future.
