When it comes to Toyota cars, whether sedans or SUVs, people who know about cars will give high comments on their reliability, manufacturability, low failure rate and high guarantee rate. In various automobile forums, there is even a Toyota memer that "one car passes through three generations" circulating. Toyota behind the factory production links of quality control ability can be imagined.

Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as: Tianjin FAW Toyota has officially reached an agreement with Ruijie Network to provide wireless communication network coverage service for logistics assembly workshop, which is mainly used for AGV car (automatic guided transport vehicle) parts distribution and real-time assembly data transmission, and support the use of other wireless devices in the future, improve the production efficiency of the workshop and do a good job in network infrastructure reserve.

AGV car has been widely used in the automobile manufacturing industry in recent years. It overturns the traditional mode of transporting parts by forklift and trailer equipment in the past, and realizes standardized and just-in-time distribution in the production workshop, significantly reducing the labor intensity of workers and reducing the number of workers. At the same time, the AGV car can interact with the manufacturing execution system, has the functions of error prevention and traceability, and can complete the real-time collection of a large number of data during work, providing big data analysis and decision support for automobile manufacturers, realizing quality traceability and improving product yield, which is of great help to the improvement of the automation degree of the entire production line.

The operation and data return of AGVs depend on the wireless communication system with the dispatching center. The coverage range, stability and reliability of wireless roaming may make the "good helper" forget where, where and how to get there (i.e. positioning, scheduling and navigation problems), resulting in the production schedule stagnation. This is undoubtedly a huge loss for the whole factory.

Therefore, in the early stage of the implementation of Tianjin FAW Toyota wireless network project, Ruijie engineers arrived at the production line, conducted in-depth research on the technical difficulties in the application scenario, and customized the Smart PW production wireless solution for Tianjin FAW Toyota to meet the uninterrupted operation needs of over 100 AGVs.

  AGV car 'not lost'?

"Do wireless coverage, don't drop AGVs"

The requirements seem not complicated, but in the real scenario, the route of AGV car needs to be planned along with the deployment of the production process, which is very complicated. The car may need to switch repeatedly in multiple AP coverage areas. At the same time, a large number of metal shelves and accumulated materials may block AP signals, and even the parts transported by the AGV itself are large metal plates.

Based on this premise, FAW Toyota and AGV manufacturers respectively put forward requirements, including measured signal strength and coverage range, among which "ensure AGVs can be seamlessly switched between aps" and "When AGVs roam between aps, the number of ping packets lost per roaming is less than 2" are particularly important, and are also difficulties in the implementation of the scheme.

In the actual production of the factory, AGV car will often "strike" in the AP switching area, the need for manual configuration to continue to work, the reason is that there is a problem in the authentication of the access signal, or the former AP is not willing to "let go", or the latter AP is not willing to "take over", helpless AGV car can only stop in place.

However, the number of packets lost by AGV vehicles during roaming between aps puts forward higher requirements for scheme deployment and product performance, because at this time, AGV vehicles are in the weak link between the two AP signal coverage, and if there is any mistake, problems such as frequent roaming and off-line will occur.

  A skilled craftsman

This wireless network project of Tianjin FAW Toyota belongs to the "expansion" type of transformation. In order to ensure that the compatibility of the existing network is not affected and the production schedule of other regions is not affected, Ruijie engineers combined with the application requirements and field investigation, and finally determined the scheme:

The core layer and convergence layer in the original architecture are retained, and the convergent layer switches are added to meet the requirements. Such an approach is a challenge to the scheme design, but it is more beneficial to the stable operation of the plant as a whole. Two Ruijie high-performance aggregation switches are virtualized into one. The link rate is doubled and each other is backed up to ensure that links are unobtainable at any time. In addition, the device has 40G expansion ports to meet the network scalability in the next 5-10 years.

Connect two wireless controllers and two sets of authentication servers to the core switch to centrally deploy Ruijie wireless aps in the whole network. The access layer uses gigabit POE switches. All wireless aps are powered by POE, reducing construction wiring, saving costs, and improving aesthetics.

Equipped with X-Sense smart antenna, the wireless AP dynamically forms 16.77 million directional signals through 24 antennas, and dynamically adjusts the antenna direction and gain according to the position of the mobile terminal and signal quality. The wireless roaming tuning between wireless AC and AP guarantees the "zero" roaming wireless experience of mobile terminals such as AGVs, and enables terminals to truly move on demand in the 10,000-square-foot workshop.
