Science creates images, images record science, capture the scientific imprint from the perspective of youth, touch the future dream with the eyes of science. The 11th National Youth Science Film Festival will be officially held on September 20, 2020. The exhibition is co-sponsored by Youth Science and Technology Center of China Association for Science and Technology, China Youth Science and Technology Counselors Association and Tianjin Association of Science and Technology, and organized by Tianjin Science and Technology Museum, Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Center, Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Education Association, and Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Foundation. The theme of this year's event is "Thinking Together through Science, Looking towards the Future".
Since its launch in March, the festival has received 6,870 works by primary and secondary school students from 32 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities as well as Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, a significant increase compared with last year. Selected and recommended by provincial-level organizations, 3,821 scientific inquiry documentaries, 1,523 scientific micro films and 1,028 popular science animations participated in national activities. After the judges' selection and recommendation, 140 works will be presented online. In order to innovate the form and enrich the content of the activity, in addition to the online exhibition, the shortlisted works will also be held in China Science and Technology Museum, Sichuan Science and Technology Museum, Wuhan Science and Technology Museum and other places, where the audience can enjoy the shortlisted works and participate in the interactive experience activities related to science image creation.
Due to the impact of the epidemic, this year's Film Festival will not organize the young creative teams and tutors of shortlisted works to participate in the exhibition and exchange activities in Tianjin. Online exhibition activities offer online interactive activities for the public to participate in and vote for their favorite works, such as Weibo and wechat. The organizer will determine the online popular works and special awards according to the online voting and expert review opinions, and the award list will be released after the online and current exhibition activities.
The National Youth Science Video Festival has been going on for ten years. This activity aims to guide and protect the curiosity of young people, to build a platform for them to open their curiosity and explore the unknown, to encourage young people to observe the world and experience science with curiosity, to capture more scientific impressions through the creative image technology, and to touch the live science with the lens. Over the past 11 years, the Science Film Festival has brought together countless frozen images of science and light, each frame is full of enthusiasm, and each set of shots pays tribute to science.
