The Science and Technology Maker Activity for primary and secondary School students in Beijing sponsored by Beijing Municipal Education Commission was successfully held from October 18 to 20, 2019. With the theme of "Practice, Innovation and intelligent creation" and the concept of interdisciplinary integration as the guiding ideology of the activity, the activity consisted of several activity units, including competition projects, education forums, teachers' paper collection and participating works exhibition. To build a learning platform for young students and teachers to explore and research, innovation and practice, cooperation and exchange. At present, it has become the largest scientific and technological innovation education activity for primary and middle school students in Beijing and the leading scientific and technological innovation event for primary and middle school students in China.
The 2019 Tech Maker Event for primary and middle school students in Beijing attracted nearly 20,000 people from more than 400 schools in 16 districts of the city. After several rounds of selection, about 1600 teachers and students came to the main venue to exchange and compete in five projects, namely, MEV electric vehicle, MEV Intelligent Driving Challenge, Interactive Design Marathon, Future Innovation Show and Creative AI Design Challenge. In addition, this activity also added maker video recording exhibition, innovation education forum and cultural exchange of maker works. Among them, the Innovation Education Forum, as the biggest highlight of this event, invited experts, scholars, principals and teachers of innovative education at home and abroad, large, primary and secondary schools to gather together to discuss innovative education. Through keynote speeches, case sharing, interactive communication and other forms, the forum actively explores the integration of science and technology innovation education into the education system of the school, promotes the overall development of the school and the all-round growth of the students, seeks a new model and new leap of maker education, and creates a better future of science and technology education.

At the opening ceremony of the event, Russell Taylor, tenured professor of the School of Interactive Arts and Sciences of Simon Fraser University, Canada, as an international guest, delivered a wonderful speech with the theme of "Design Innovation and Technology Application for a Better Future". It brought the international advanced concept of innovation and creation to the teachers and students present, and encouraged them to explore innovation, not forget to give back while growing up, and contribute their own strength to the development of the community, the city, the country and human beings.
During the 2019 Beijing Science and Technology Maker Event for Primary and Secondary School Students, several wonderful science and technology innovation competitions and innovative education exhibition and exchange activities were held. Student teams from more than 100 primary and secondary schools in Beijing and invited exchange schools from other provinces and cities demonstrated their skills in the event, applying scientific and technological knowledge and innovative thinking to complete creative challenges on the spot, and jointly build the dreams of young makers.
