Recently, Zhejiang Exhibition Center welcomed a group of special "guests". They are nearly 1,000 Design works that participated in the re-evaluation of 2019 China Design Intelligence Award (" DIA "). Some of these works have traveled to Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, from 26 countries and regions, while others are created by local Chinese companies and teams.
From July 13 to 17, DIA gathered 18 domestic and foreign experts from 7 countries and regions to evaluate all the shortlisted works, and held D-Will lecture and exhibition. During this period, DIA promotes industrial transformation with academic spirit and tells the story of Chinese design to the world.
7 sets of system selection works 12 days to complete the global delivery

As the first international academy Award in the field of industrial design in China, DIA's competitors cover 56 countries and regions on five continents around the world. This year, there are four new countries, including Slovenia, Afghanistan, Romania and Pakistan, and the number and quality of DIA's works have been steadily improved through five channels, including information release, targeted invitation, nomination, international search and industrial cooperation.
This is inseparable from the academic spirit of DIA team in the past four years. "We study the awards as a system engineering. We complete market research and precise invitation before the awards, and build seven sets of award evaluation systems with independent intellectual property rights." DIA team Xiong Na said.
It is understood that these 7 sets of systems carry DIA's three review, including the complete process of award registration, judge selection, demand survey, tracking feedback, etc., to promote the transformation of later works.
"We have improved system efficiency and user experience through user feedback and award demands from previous sessions." Xiong said the team will focus on data activation next, combining system data with artificial intelligence to better leverage its value.
"Values" is the "spirit" of international competitions.
Nowadays, DIA is trusted by more and more designers in the world. Industry experts from different cultural backgrounds from all over the world have joined the DIA judging team, including academic leaders from world-renowned universities and representatives of design organizations. This is due to the fact that four years ago, DIA started from scratch to establish the "values" of the competition, and continued to raise the standard and authority of the competition.
"Running awards should be like learning, and international awards should have highly unique values and evaluation criteria." According to Wang Yun, secretary general of the organizing committee of China Design Intelligence Award and president of Industrial Design Research Institute of China Academy of Art, the team tried to connect the process of collection of works, selection of judges and industrial docking through a large number of academic visits and market research in the early stage of the award.
It is understood that, in order to clarify the evaluation criteria and guidance of work value, DIA created the "pyramid evaluation criteria", which emphasizes the design technology, the way of design and the power of design respectively from the bottom up, and presents a batch of new design varieties with social influence and industrial demonstration power for the public.

In 2018, DIA and Yiwu Municipal government jointly created the "Design Yiwu" module, and the selection mode was adjusted comprehensively. Yan Zengxin, secretary general of the organizing committee of the Design Yiwu Special Award, said that compared with other modules, the selection criteria of "Design Yiwu" emphasizes more pragmatism and originality, and the mass production is cheap and high quality, which is in line with the development of local manufacturing industry.
"Design helps the industrial transformation and upgrading of Yiwu, and improves the trade level of Yiwu on the strategy of 'One Belt, One Road'." Meng Jiao, deputy mayor of Yiwu Municipal Government, said that after some Yiwu design works were listed in the TOP100 special award, the sales of a single product was significantly higher than other products.
On this basis, DIA will add a new module of "Information interaction" this year, which will closely follow the "No.1 Project" of Zhejiang digital economy and introduce new experts and judges to promote DIA's expansion from industrial manufacturing to digital technology and explore new growth points for regional economy.
"As a government-supported academy, we not only help the industry in design, but also take responsibility for talent cultivation and introduction."
