The opening ceremony took the swimming pool as the image carrier, combined with laser and lighting design. Sun Yang, the Olympic champion of swimming, held the artificial intelligence mascot Kili in his hand and activated the projected ground screen amid the applause and cheers of the audience, presenting the rich three-dimensional beauty of the South of the Yangtze River to the world. Athlete representatives, Olympic champion Ye Shiwen and referee representative Hua Ming took the oath at the scene.

The Chinese team sent 42 athletes, including 19 men and 23 women, to compete in all events.
