/PRZWT/Shanghai, June 5, 2024 - From May 30 to 31, 2024, the "SAE2024 International Automotive Safety Conference" hosted by SAE International and co-organized by Shanghai International Automobile City was grandly held in Shanghai. The conference was conducted through offline and online simultaneous live broadcast for two days. The theme of the conference covered the fields of intelligent safety protection, intelligent driving safety, operating system and chip technology, simulation and security virtual assessment, information and cyber security, anticipatory safety and SOTIF, and the second SAE Automotive Safety Excellence Award was presented.
As the 6th Automotive Safety Conference held by SAE in China, it attracted more than 50 outstanding entrepreneurs, technical experts and industry scholars from home and abroad. They shared the latest technological research and development results through keynote reports, sub-forums and roundtable dialogues, discussed cutting-edge technology trends, and exchanged valuable experience and insights. With its high professionalism and authority, the conference attracted nearly 500 relevant industry professionals to attend offline.
The plenary session of the conference was presided over by Zhang Lijun, Dean of the School of Automobile, Tongji University. Pan Xiaohong, General Manager of Shanghai International Automobile City (Group) Co., Ltd., and Xu Bingliang, General Manager of SAE International China, attended and delivered opening speeches.

In his speech, General Manager Xu Bingliang pointed out that although automobile safety technology has made significant progress in recent decades. Especially in the current rapidly developing urban environment and increasingly complex transportation network, automobile safety issues are even more serious. China is transforming from a manufacturing powerhouse to a manufacturing powerhouse, and the automotive industry is also moving towards a new stage of higher quality and safety. We shoulder an important historical mission and need to cooperate in depth with the international community in an open manner, share experience, exchange technologies, and jointly address the challenges of global automotive safety.
Gao Zhenhai, dean of the School of Automotive Engineering of Jilin University, gave a keynote speech on "The Development Status and Challenges of Automotive Active Safety Technology", focusing on the integrated development and protection of the chassis, aiming at the trend of intelligence and electrification, introducing the design theory and control method of the new generation of intelligent electric vehicles, and bringing a new knowledge system about the development of automotive active safety technology.
Rami Debouk, a system safety technician at the General Motors Research Institute in the United States, delivered a keynote speech on "Automotive Functional Safety Journey - The History and Latest Challenges of ISO26262", which provided an in-depth introduction to the history, content, main challenges and latest issues of ISO26262.
Shen Haidong, director of vehicle safety integration technology at SAIC-GM Pan-Asia Automotive Technology Center, put forward a three-in-one development strategy of electric safety, digitalization and robustness in "Safety is the industry bottom line in the era of smart electronics - Introduction to SAIC-GM vehicle safety integration strategy", and looked forward to the future of the era of automotive safety intelligence.
Zhou Wei, director of the Automotive Transportation Research Center of the Highway Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, introduced the current status of commercial application of autonomous driving and compliance application ideas with the theme of "Thinking and Exploration of Autonomous Car Transportation Services".
Yang Heping, senior chief engineer of the Central Research Institute of Geely Automobile Group, introduced Geely's research and development in intelligent security protection in his keynote speech "Exploration of Geely Automobile Research Institute in Intelligent Security Protection".
NIO Chief Digital Security Officer Lu Long introduced the five-dimensional security concept of NIO intelligent electric vehicles in his speech on "Five Dimensions of Smart Electric Vehicles", including passive safety, battery safety, redundancy safety, smart driving safety, and information security.
During the conference, the 2nd Automotive Safety Excellence Award was also held, and an exhibition and exhibition area was set up to showcase the innovative products and technical solutions of many enterprises, and to establish a communication and cooperation platform between suppliers and users, technology developers and market demanders.
