/ Asahi/Guangzhou, April 25, 2022 -- A seminar on New Data Centers and press conference on Data Center White Paper (2022) was held in Beijing on April 20, hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and the Press and Publicity Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and hosted by the New Data Center Promotion Plan and Open Data Center Committee. The second batch of data center emission reduction products and solutions were unveiled at the event. Fujifilm LTO8 data stream tape successfully passed the preliminary test with excellent environmental benefits and was selected into the program and awarded the certificate of honor.

Data centers are big energy users. Under the "two-carbon" goal, it is increasingly important to research and promote energy-saving and low-carbon technologies in data centers. In order to better promote energy conservation and emission reduction in data centers, and to implement the requirements of the Three-year Action Plan for the Development of New Data Centers (2021-2023), which is the policy of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Open Data Center Committee (ODCC) will launch the "Zero-carbon Computing Co-construction Plan" in 2021, carry out the evaluation of carbon reduction products and solutions in data centers, and drive enterprises to display and share the most New energy saving and carbon reduction technology, put forward product carbon reduction improvement plan, improve the industry's understanding of energy saving and carbon reduction technology and promote industry development.

Fujifilm LTO8 data stream tape was selected in the "zero-carbon computing Power Co-construction Plan". The patented technology of Fujifilm barium ferrite BaFe was adopted to optimize the data storage unit density, single disk capacity space, and extend the data storage term. At the same time, the key data could be saved offline, which was more secure and energy-saving, which was shown in the relevant tests of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology It shows better effect of energy saving and carbon reduction. According to FG-Y05-014-01 "Testing Methods for Power Consumption of Tape Libraries and Calculation Methods for Carbon Emission", the TS4500 tape library is used for the test. The test contents include idle power of the drive, idle power of the tape library, maximum power of the manipulator, maximum power of the drive, maximum power of the tape library, and carbon emission of the tape during the running cycle Results Evaluated by the Committee, it met the requirements for inclusion in the "Zero Carbon Computing Co-construction Program", and was successfully evaluated as the data center emission reduction products and solutions.

Fujifilm has been promoting the popularization of LTO tapes, which can greatly reduce environmental load, to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions in data storage, in order to achieve "green storage". According to a white paper jointly released by Fujifilm and market research authority IDC, the flexible use of tape storage could reduce CO2 emissions by 664 million tons by 2030. Brad Johns, a consulting firm, published a white paper titled "Sustainable Information Technology for Modern Tape Storage", which also estimated that LTO8 coupled with tape drives would produce 0.114kg CO2e/TB/ year of CO2 equivalent over a ten-year life cycle, 95% less than hard disks. The inclusion of LTO8 data stream tape in ODCC's "Zero Carbon Computing Co-construction Plan" will accelerate Fujifilm's exploration of energy saving and carbon reduction technologies and products in China's data center industry chain. We look forward to collaborative innovation with all parties to jointly promote the data center industry to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality at an early date.
