Guangzhou, January 8, 2022 -- ZF and VinFast jointly launch the first L3 autonomous driving system for passenger cars
· The ZF Autonomous shuttle bus system in collaboration with Oceaneering is now available in the US
· ZF's advancing electric drive train technology will contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable environment
At CES, ZF demonstrated the real progress it has made in its next generation mobility strategy and demonstrated that "next generation mobility" is no longer a far-fetched vision, but a goal within reach. Zf has developed technologies with advanced core intelligence capabilities to take vehicle safety, automation and electrification to new heights. These important advances in technology have global benefits, benefiting our societies and the environment.
Martin Fischer, group director of ZF, said: "At ZF, we are trying to strike a balance between leveraging proven smart technologies to help us solve the major challenges of mobility, while bringing these technologies to market at a moderate pace. This not only allows consumers to gradually acclimate to new advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving interfaces and features, reaping safety and energy savings benefits, but also facilitates infrastructure updates in areas such as charging or installing shuttle bus lanes."
Continuous improvement of ability
Zf's recent success in winning customer orders and continuing capacity improvements vindicate its strategy. Zf, for example, has launched autonomous driving technology components in China with Dongfeng, including coASSIST; In response to customer interest in L2+ solutions, ZF has introduced coDRIVE with congestion assistance and highway driving assistance. In addition, ZF has developed coPILOT, which is scalable up to L4, in partnership with VinFast, a fast-growing electric vehicle manufacturer in Vietnam.
"Our vehicle manufacturer customers are looking for advanced technologies and smart features that bring added value to consumers," Fischer said. "We have successfully and steadily expanded our advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving business through our sensor and high-performance computing orders, offering customers products and services that include sensor technology integration, advanced system capabilities, and computing power for the ProAI supercomputer."
Zf is building the next generation of mobility solutions through its advanced safety, autonomous driving and electrification smarts in the mobility market, including the passenger car market and self-driving shuttle buses.
Shuttle buses, commercial vehicles and the industrial sector will all benefit
With the rise of megacities, another important frontier will become increasingly important: transportation services. The need to address traffic congestion and improve space utilization will drive the demand for alternative modes of travel, and ZF's Automated Transportation Systems team can now offer virtual turnkey solutions to help customers plan, operate and implement automated shuttle bus systems. The system can be applied in the city, but also can connect the city and remote rural areas. Zf has now brought these solutions to the United States.
As 2022 approaches, the newly combined Commercial Vehicle Solutions Division will combine the strengths of ZF and the former Wibco to become a leading global supplier of the technologies and advanced powertrain systems needed to enable advanced safety and autonomous driving, and will witness many business cases that benefit from these capabilities.
Zf goes beyond traditional modes of travel to provide advanced automation for agricultural equipment, mining, off-highway machinery and automated forklifts, and to protect the environment through ultra-efficient wind turbine gearboxes.
Software solutions drive mobility and sustainability
Zf continues to transform itself into a software-based and digital enterprise across all of its business processes. By leveraging Microsoft cloud, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and data technologies, ZF is becoming a cloud-native mobility service provider to provide its customers with clean, safe, convenient and affordable mobility solutions.
Zf, for example, brings electric-driven inverter technology with higher scalability and modular capabilities through its highly intelligent software and semiconductor expertise. This is a key step in improving motor efficiency, range and economy for an electrified future, and ZF is leveraging its extensive expertise to shorten the development cycle and bring these advanced technologies to market as quickly as possible.
Wolf-Henning Scheider, Chief executive Officer of ZF, said: "ZF has a unique opportunity to build the next generation of mobility and must act now. We are eager to solve the major problems facing the world because they have a vital impact on our survival and quality of life. In order to improve the lives of future generations, we must all work together, from government to industry to members of society, to focus on the shared goal of delivering on the promise of the future."
