The 2019 Forbes China Leadership Forum was held at Qingdao International Convention Center on Oct 19.

This forum is a parallel forum to the 2019 Multinational Company Leaders Qingdao Summit. A total of 115 Fortune 500 companies and 197 industry leaders attended the Qingdao Summit, with more than 500 guests. The summit will be hosted by Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and Shandong Provincial People's Government, and hosted by Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of Ministry of Commerce, Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce and Qingdao Municipal People's Government.
Taking advantage of the resources of the Qingdao Summit, the 2019 Forbes China Leadership Forum will be attended by government representatives, Forbes Group executives, experts and scholars, business opinion leaders from all walks of life, and many mainstream media.
Adhering to international thinking and open concept, the forum focused on "Shaping global leadership", and set the agenda of keynote speech, roundtable forum, list interpretation, summit dialogue, and presented the "Forbes China Lifetime Achievement Award" at the scene.

Li Siwei, executive director of Forbes Global Media Holdings and CEO of Forbes China, delivered a speech at the event. He believed that the current background of globalization is complex and changeable. As an important engine driving world economic growth, China has the responsibility to promote the globalization process in a fair, just, healthy and orderly direction. Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, multinational corporations have made great contributions to China's economy. Forbes China is willing to use this forum to broaden the channels of communication and cooperation between China and multinational corporations, so that all sectors of society can listen to the voices of multinational corporations and actively promote the development of globalization.

Mike Perlis, Vice chairman of Forbes Global Media Holdings, opened the forum. He noted that Forbes, as a business medium, has always focused on the world's top companies in a free market. In the context of globalization, multinational companies share common interests with China in safeguarding economic globalization, maintaining free trade and fostering healthy markets. Forbes China is willing to take concrete actions to support the development of multinational companies in China and the international expansion of Chinese enterprises, so as to inject new impetus into globalization and free trade.

Liu Qiang, vice governor of Shandong Province, pointed out in his speech that the forum is of great significance. He pointed out that China's economic development is contributing more and more to the world economy. One of the reasons is that more and more foreign companies are entering China and more and more Chinese companies are going to the world. As a strong driver of economic globalization, transnational corporations are playing an important role in building a community of interests, responsibilities and destiny for mankind, safeguarding the multilateral economic system and building a new type of fair and equitable international relations. Leadership is one of the most important management qualities needed by managers in the 21st century. Leadership is critical to enhancing organizational capabilities, driving change and innovation, and building companies that are both global and local.
Craig Allen, President of the US-China Business Council, Jens Eskelund, Vice president of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and Osamu Ada, director of the Japan International Trade Promotion Agency (JETRO), are invited to deliver keynote speeches.

Craig Allen, President of the US-China Business Council, gave a keynote address on "How Globalization Works." He believes that globalization is highly efficient and can promote the development of global productivity, but by its nature, globalization is also unfair. He offered his views on the U.S.-China trade talks, saying that the future is to be created, and that we must take the necessary steps to ensure that the future is a good global economic development ecosystem that benefits all countries.

Mr. Jens Eskelund, Vice President of the European Chamber of Commerce in China, delivered a keynote speech on the topic of "Global Optimization of Business Environment, Reclaim New 'Fertile ground' for Foreign Investment". He pointed out that Europe is China's largest trading partner and adheres to free trade and the rules-based multilateral trading system, and made an analysis on market access, development treatment, laws and regulations. He hopes to take this opportunity to further promote mutually beneficial cooperation with the Shandong government and jointly create a better future.

Shuo Da, director of the Japan Trade Promotion Agency (JETRO), gives a speech at the development of Economic cooperation and Business environment in the context of economic globalization. He gave a detailed account of the Japan Trade Promotion Agency, followed by an analysis of the state of the Chinese economy. He stressed that China has a strong presence in both trade and investment. From the perspective of JETRO, he analyzed the innovation field, aging and other issues. He hoped that in the future development, China and Japan can establish a mutually beneficial and win-win relationship.

This is the first time for Forbes China to launch the "Outstanding Leaders of Chinese Multinational Enterprises" list, which aims to find outstanding leaders of Chinese multinational enterprises. Forbes China defines an "outstanding leader" as a CEO who has led his or her company to achieve good market/business performance during his or her tenure, as well as an important leader who has made outstanding contributions to the company.
