On the afternoon of April 1, Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia, was the keynote speaker at the closed-door communication conference "For a Better Planet" in Beijing. It is reported that there were only a dozen guests attending the closed-door meeting with Ban Ki-moon, which also shows that Liby Group's achievement in green development is unique and has won unanimous recognition at home and abroad.

Liby Group, as the "green" leader in China's daily chemical industry, has made great efforts in promoting the green development of the industry. Chen Kaishuang, chairman of Liby Group, was also invited to attend the closed-door communication meeting. As an entrepreneur representative, he introduced to the guests the green and sustainable development path that Liby Group has found through more than 20 years of green development practice, providing useful reference for the sustainable development of the world economy.

Embarrassing Experiences Hatch 'green Seeds'

At the closed-door meeting, Chen shared his entrepreneurial story. In 1994, when Chen started his business, many factories made clean products, but the environment was anything but clean. Washing powder production workshop dust flying, production noise is very big, smell pungent...... Walk in with black shoes and come out with white shoes and white hair.

In 1997, Libai started to build its first production base in Panyu, Guangzhou. Chen Kaixun did not forget the experience of being a little embarrassed, and the construction of a "green factory" became his requirement. But the concept of green development was obviously ahead of its time. "The cost of early construction and later maintenance will increase a lot. Have you considered that?" The designer of Beijing Light Industry Design Institute asked him unceremoniously for the first time.

Are things difficult and easy in the world? For this, the victim is also easy. "As long as we can build a green factory without dust, noise, waste water and waste gas pollution, I am willing to." It was both Chen's answer and his promise, a promise he has kept to this day. Now goldfish can be raised directly after wastewater treatment in Panyu Production Base of Libai. This "green seed" has already taken root and sprouted in Libai Group.

Never stop fighting with environmental protection

The daily chemical industry where Liby Group is located is not insignificant in today's popular Internet, but it is a real livelihood industry. In such a "humble" industry, but related to people's livelihood, Liby Group has always been in the "fight" with environmental protection.

China is a country with severe water shortage, but the daily chemical industry is a veritable big user of water intake. Every year, 23% of fresh water is used for fabric washing. Detergent may not seem to have anything to do with black crude oil, but it is a derivative of crude oil and consumes non-renewable resources in the production process. The daily chemical industry uses a large amount of plastic packaging every year, and the degradation time of plastics in the natural environment is 30-50 years...

Gallop, long for work. In 2006, Liby launched the first water-saving laundry detergent in the Chinese market. Through the unique formula technology, the washing times of clothes are reduced from three times to two times, saving 30% of water than ordinary products. In 2014, through scientific and technological breakthroughs, the products launched again only need to be rinsed once, and the water-saving effect has reached 50%.

At the same time, Liby Group has been vigorously promoting the use of renewable raw materials, using palm oil and other plant raw materials instead of raw materials derived from petroleum. It has successfully combined surfactants and enzymes from renewable resources to launch non-ironing laundry detergent with its own intellectual property rights, which has overturned the formula and process of laundry detergent for more than 100 years. It has done what many foreign companies have failed to do. Today, Liby is one of the world's largest users of surfactants from renewable sources.

It is universally acknowledged that concentrated detergents have less impact on the environment and produce fewer emissions. Liby Group will focus more on the promotion of concentration, at the same time, through the concentration of ordinary laundry detergent to improve the density, save more than 20% of packaging, alone reduce plastic consumption of more than 2,000 tons per year.

According to statistics, at present, the raw materials derived from renewable resources have accounted for more than 70% of Liby Group's washing product formulations, and the biodegradability of all raw materials exceeds 90%. In 2018, the greening rate of Liby Group's manufacturing process reached 61.93%, and the resource and environmental impact of green manufacturing decreased by 33.46 percentage points.

Talking about the figures behind closed doors, Chen said proudly: "I can say with a pat on my chest that Liby Group has put green issues as important as economic performance."

Sowing scientific research reap green

Talking about how to achieve green development and create a better earth, Chen Kaishuan said in combination with Liby Group's development experience, "Liby Group can continue to smoothly walk on the road of green development, which is inseparable from our emphasis on scientific and technological research and development, which can be used for reference by other enterprises."

"Back in 1998, when the company was still small, I started to build my own research and development team." Chen Kaixuan introduced. At present, Liby Group has established a mature and professional R&D team and built an international level R&D center. The long-term investment in scientific research of Liby Group is also enjoying a harvest season. At present, Liby Innovation R&D Center can complete more than 100 kinds of research on new products and technologies every year, among which more than 70% are high-tech products. As a leader, Liby has more invention patents than its two to five peers in China combined, according to data from the National Patent Office. In addition, Liby has the industry "China Light Industry Green Detergent Key Laboratory". Liby spends more than 4% of its sales on R&D each year, one of the highest percentages in the entire daily chemical industry in the world.

A single flower does not make a garden full of flowers. In 2016, Liby Group released the "Green health strategy" of the industry, hoping to promote the whole industrial chain of China's daily chemical industry to realize green raw materials, green formula, green technology, green manufacturing and green products through the leading role of leading enterprises, so as to lead green consumption and provide consumers with a green and healthy home. From the beginning of the business to ten consecutive years of national sales in the forefront of the industry, Liby has been in the forefront of the industry, and won the choice of consumers. According to the 2018 Kantar Consumer Index research data, 70 percent of households in China use Liby.

It is worth noting that Liby Group's unremitting efforts in green development have been recognized at home and abroad. It has been awarded the "China Environmental Mark Award of Excellence" by the State Environmental Protection Administration and the "International Carbon Gold Medal" by the World Environmental Protection Conference. "These are both affirmations and encouragement, and also motivation for us to do better in the future. We have full confidence in China's green development, and all industries will do better and better in green sustainable development in the future."
