Shanghai, Nov. 6, 2018 The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center on Nov. 5. In order to better explain Omron's understanding of man-machine relationship in the future production site, Omron brought the latest generation of FORPHEUS table tennis robot on behalf of the "future man-machine integration", the robot integration production line of high speed and high precision, to realize flexible production, to show the technology and solutions to accelerate the intelligent manufacturing industry.

At the Expo, the fourth generation of FORPHEUS table tennis robot staged an exquisite "man-machine battle", which won bursts of applause and applause from the scene. FORPHEUS is a robot that allows people to improve their opponent's table tennis skills while enjoying the fun of continuous sparring. It was born in 2013, equipped with constantly upgraded and iterative FA and AI technologies. In 2016, Omron was selected into the Guinness Book of World Records as "the world's first table tennis coaching robot", which reflects Omron's continuous advancement in the evolution of human-machine relationship in the future.
FORPHEUS, with its extremely flexible arms, eyes, and intelligent net, seems to radiate an endless stream of intelligence, all of which are the result of Omron's core S&C+T technology. The FORPHEUS robot is a highly integrated combination of Omron's evolving FA technology. It can control the timing and direction of the ball in 1/1000 of a second, and calculate the Angle and point at which the ball should hit by predicting the ball's trajectory. Not only that, it also uses AI technology to help players improve by memorizing the characteristics of the player and the trajectory of the ball.

In order to better serve our Chinese manufacturing partners with FA solutions, Omron opened the OMS Phase II plant in China in August to significantly increase production capacity, and added a manufacturing industrial robot production line in the OMS Phase I plant to meet the strong demand of the Chinese manufacturing industry.
