On January 28, 2018, with the theme of "New Era, New Agriculture, New retail", "2018 Yangufang Annual Agricultural Conference" was held in Shanghai New International Expo Center. At the meeting, Yangufang Group, together with experts and scholars in the field of nutrition and health, launched the "Yangufang Whole Grain Health Research Institute", aiming to customize healthy food and nutrition programs for people suffering from chronic diseases and high incidence of chronic diseases.

The Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee clearly put forward the outline of the Healthy China 2030 plan, pointing out that "promoting healthy China is an important foundation for completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and basically realizing socialist modernization; it is a national strategy for comprehensively improving the health quality of the Chinese nation and achieving coordinated development between people's health and economic and social development". The National Nutrition Plan (2017-2030) issued by The General Office of the State Council emphasizes that "national nutrition concerns the improvement of national quality and economic and social development".

According to a survey released by the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the prevalence of overweight and obesity was 30.1% and 11.9%, respectively. The prevalence rates of hypertension and prehypertension were 32.5% and 39.5%, respectively. The prevalence of diabetes was 9.4%; The prevalence of dyslipidemia was 40.5%. Chronic diseases have become the number one threat to the health of Chinese residents.

Whole grain food, because of its balanced nutrition, plays a significant role in chronic disease diet. From national policies to family rations, whole grain food trend has been set off in the whole world. Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents (2016) proposed that Chinese adult residents should "take in 250~400g of cereal and potato foods every day, including 50~150g of whole grains and beans. Potato category 50~100g." Compared with refined rice and noodles, whole grains and beans provide more B vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber and other nutrients, which is important for reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and cancer.

In view of this, Yanguifang, together with experts and scholars in the field of food, nutrition and health, jointly initiated the establishment of "Yanguifang Whole Grain Health Research Institute" in Shanghai, which is committed to customize healthy food and nutrition programs for people suffering from chronic diseases and high incidence of chronic diseases, improve the chronic diseases that have plagued Chinese people for a long time, and help the country reduce the medical investment and burden of chronic diseases. Make a contribution to the health cause of the country.
