The PW1900G engine powers the two largest variants of the second generation of the E-Jet family of commercial aircraft. The E190-E2 made its first flight in May 2016, and the E195-E2 made its first flight on March 29, 2017.

"The FAA's type certification of the PW1900G engine is a key program milestone," said Chris Calio, president of Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines. "The engine delivers 23,000 pounds of thrust, is currently powering five flight-test aircraft and has completed more than 900 hours of flight testing."

The forensic testing program lasted nearly 18 months, with the engine undergoing a series of rigorous tests including sea level, handling and performance tests.

The PW1900G, the fourth certified engine in the CleanPower family, is scheduled to enter service with the E190-E2 aircraft in 2018 and enter the market with the E195-E2 aircraft in 2019.

The E-Jet E2 is one of two projects Pratt & Whitney is working on in partnership with Embraer. Pratt & Whitney is also participating in Embraer's ongoing KC-390 project through the supply of V250-E5 engines. Pratt & Whitney is also providing auxiliary power units for the E-Jet E2 program.

Pratt & Whitney's CleanPower line of engines has orders from more than 80 customers in more than 30 countries, including announced and unannounced confirmed and optional orders. In service, the Cleanpower series of engines demonstrated the ability to reduce fuel consumption by 16 percent, regulated emissions by 50 percent, and noise trajectory by 75 percent.
