At present, CVD has become the "number one killer" endangering people's health in China, and the death caused by CVD accounts for 41% of the total mortality. Hypertension has become a major risk factor for stroke and ischemic heart disease in China. In addition, there are about 270 million hypertension patients in China. With the acceleration of the aging society, the burden of hypertension in the elderly is bound to become more serious, and the prevention and treatment of hypertension in China is facing a very difficult task. As the first large-scale national multi-clinical center, randomized and open clinical study on hypertension targets in elderly Chinese patients aged 60-79 years, the project of "Study on Intervention Strategies of Hypertension Targets in elderly Chinese patients with hypertension" aims to evaluate the target blood pressure of elderly Chinese patients with hypertension in treatment, and to explore the target blood pressure under different blood pressure control levels. How to make the elderly patients with hypertension achieve more benefits of heart and brain, and formulate the best target population for blood pressure reduction, through the analysis of relevant data to avoid the risk caused by cardiovascular diseases as far as possible.
