In recent years, the Chinese government has attached great importance to geographical resources and the use of geological drilling equipment technology to investigate and develop China's geographical resources. It has clearly pointed out that geographical information resources are factors of production, intangible assets and social wealth, equal in importance to energy, materials and environmental resources, and have an irreplaceable position in the structure of economic and social resources.
During the 11th Five-Year Plan period, the Chinese government set four goals for land and resources work, namely, to increase proven geological reserves of oil by 4 billion to 4.5 billion tons, natural gas by 2 trillion to 2.25 trillion cubic meters, iron ore by 2.5 billion tons, copper by 20 million tons, and coal reserves by 100 billion tons. It is expected that by 2012, the annual output value of China's geographic information industry will exceed 80 billion yuan, driving the growth of related industries by more than 500 billion yuan. At present, in this huge market space, can be developed and utilized is only the tip of the iceberg. In accordance with the requirements of the four goals, it is necessary to accelerate the pace of informatization construction of land and resources, vigorously develop and utilize geographic information resources, and significantly enhance the service capacity of geological drilling.
