According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, government investment in office and public buildings and large public buildings in 2014 will be fully implemented green building standards. The new regulation was set in response to last year's massive smog in cities across the country, as well as the introduction of green building standards, in an effort to promote energy efficiency in buildings.
The green building industry is a boon to residents of the smog-stricken Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. At present, the green building energy saving industry in this area is only in the initial stage, and the commercial blue ocean needs further development.
Green and energy-saving building enterprises have a lot to offer
The governments of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region have introduced relevant policies to support the development of green building and energy saving industry in the region. According to Ye Dahua, a member of the Beijing Municipal Planning Commission, starting from June 1, 2013, newly constructed projects will be required to meet the green building standard of one star or above when submitting construction plans for approval, or they will not be approved. Beijing will take the lead in achieving the target of 75% energy efficiency in residential buildings.
In 2011, Tianjin Binhai New Area issued the Fiscal and Financial Support Measures for Encouraging the Development of Green Economy and Low-carbon Technology. According to this regulation, the one-star, two-star and three-star projects that have passed the green building certification in accordance with the Green Building Evaluation Standards of the Ministry of Construction will be given a one-time reward of 100,000 yuan, 200,000 yuan and 300,000 yuan respectively. The newly issued Implementation Plan for Energy Conservation Work in Beautiful Tianjin also takes "building energy conservation project" as the top priority of the ten energy conservation projects.
