January 6, 2025, Las Vegas, CES 2025 - As a well-known enterprise in the field of automotive technology and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, HARMAN International focuses on creating "consumer-grade experiences, automotive-grade quality". Today, HARMAN announced a new collaboration with a number of advanced companies in the technology and automotive fields to explore how to add empathy and context-aware technologies to automobiles to accelerate the transformation of the automotive industry driven by consumer electronics technology.
HARMAN's latest collaboration is dedicated to creating intelligent and intuitive driving experiences. From in-car displays that bring vivid visual effects to AI systems that facilitate natural interaction between the driver and technology, these collaborations continue to push boundaries to create outstanding driving experiences.
Christian Sobottka, president of HARMAN International Automotive, said: "At HARMAN, we believe that in the process of industry transformation, synergy is the key to achieving better development, which is also the key to unlocking the full potential of everyone. By partnering with leaders in the automotive industry and technology, HARMAN can leverage strong industry forces to create a new level of in-vehicle experience to meet the needs of consumers and automakers."
At CES 2025, HARMAN will demonstrate how the latest collaboration is driving the automotive industry forward and changing our interaction patterns with cars.
Leading a new era of intelligent and humanized transportation
HARMAN's collaboration with Cerence AI is a breakthrough in the integration of generative AI technology into automobiles. At the 2025 International Consumer Electronics Show, HARMAN officially launched the virtual image "Luna" with Ready Engage's new emotional intelligence AI system, which will revolutionize the interaction pattern between people and cars. The system is designed with full flexibility in mind. It is not only pre-integrated with the voice assistant platform developed by Cerence AI, but also able to adapt to the rapid development and continuous change of AI technology.
By providing a personalized AI interaction experience, Ready Engage is able to anticipate user requests and provide natural feedback in voice and visual form, creating a user-friendly, effortless, and simple connection.
The partnership also further enhances Harman's Ready Link Marketplace developer ecosystem. Harman integrates the Ca LLM ™ Edge vehicle-level embedded miniature language model (SLM) developed by Cerence AI into Ready Upgrade products, making it easier for third-party app developers to create in-vehicle applications that bring personalized content that consumers love in the car, while ensuring the security of personal data. The integration embeds advanced, cost-effective miniature language models into Ready Upgrade's software for in-vehicle use, which developers can access through a standardized interface provided by Harman.
Integrate advanced driver assistance systems and in-vehicle experiences
HARMAN and HL Klemove have joined forces to combine cutting-edge cockpit and ADAS technologies into an integrated solution to meet the demands of an ever-changing driving experience. The two companies have jointly developed a lightweight central computing unit (CCU) based on HARMAN's Ready Upgrade cockpit domain controller and HL Klemove's L2-level software stack and ADAS sensor suite. This collaboration brings together HARMAN's deep expertise in automotive cockpits with HL Klemove's market-proven ADAS solutions.
In addition, HARMAN and HL Klemove are developing a product-grade CCU platform for the next phase of their collaboration that will integrate new cockpit and ADAS capabilities, shorten the IPO time for automakers, and provide full customization flexibility.
Create a superior in-vehicle consumer experience
With Samsung's expertise in consumer electronics, HARMAN's in-car experience has reached the design and performance standards of today's consumer electronics products, and Ready Display products are an example. HARMAN's Ready Display products use Samsung's Neo QLED display technology to bring advanced automotive-grade cadmium-free quantum dot film technology and a blue Mini-LED-based local backlit display to the industry. These innovative technologies bring home theater-level experiences into the car with enhanced brightness, intelligent algorithms, and sleek design.
The cooperation between HARMAN and Samsung continues to break through the boundaries of in-vehicle display performance. The two parties are jointly developing HDR10 + vehicle-grade display technology, and Ready Display will be available as a HDR10 + compliant product in early 2025.
Utilizing near-real-time technology to ensure safety and health
HARMAN is working closely with industry leaders, including Miovision and Qualcomm, to ensure that its award-winning Ready family of products delivers accurate information at the right time to ensure safe driving.
Harman Ready Aware is a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution based on vehicle-to-everything (V2N) communication that enhances driver situational awareness by focusing on traffic lights and potential road safety risks. In partnership with Miovision, a global leader in intelligent transportation solutions, Ready Aware provides drivers with contextual, intelligent alerts, including green light countdown reminders and red light assist, to help drivers safely pass through intersections while supporting a safe driving journey.
In addition, the Ready Connect 5G TCU, jointly developed by HARMAN and Qualcomm Technologies, is redefining automotive connectivity by introducing satellite communications to the TCU. Relying on the second-generation Snapdragon ® Auto 5G Modem-RF Gen 2, this technology collaboration enables mobile services such as emergency information transmission based on satellite network operator (SNO) coverage.
The collaboration provides ubiquitous communication performance while maximizing the scalability, scalability, and availability of mobile services to meet the evolving needs of the automotive market.
Enhance driving safety and comfort through personalized in-vehicle interventions
Building on years of collaboration, HARMAN and Gentherm, the global leader in thermal management and pneumatic comfort technology, have deepened their collaboration to continuously enhance the in-vehicle experience by putting driving safety and comfort first. HARMAN Ready Care, an industry-leading, real-time measurement of driver visual and cognitive load and vital signs, is now integrated with Gentherm's new in-vehicle comfort product, WellSense ™, to provide personalized in-vehicle interventions, such as adjusting seat heating and cooling based on driver stress levels, distraction and fatigue.
