"Milliken's brand Borchers ® unveiled at the 2024 China International Coatings Exhibition"
Technological innovation helps future development
Technological innovation is one of the key drivers driving the upgrading of the coatings industry. Borchers ® showcased a number of leading coating additive technologies to help the industry move towards a more efficient and environmentally friendly future.
As our booth shows, in the application of water-based industrial coatings, Borchers ® developed a full range of dispersants, rheology modifiers, catalysts, leveling agents and other products to help our customers formulate water-based, high solid content, while effectively reducing VOC emissions.
The cobalt-free high-performance drier products on display this time are also the world's leading technology embodiment of Borchers ®. Compared with traditional cobalt drier products, in addition to better performance in paint color and film performance, it can also show better drying efficiency in unfavorable construction environments, thus providing customers with a more optimized technology platform for the development of water-based alkyd resins.
Innovative case: promoting sustainable development in the industry
• Our high-performance drier replaces the traditional cobalt metal drier. When used in conjunction with our non-MEKO type anti-skinning agent, it can effectively help bio-based alkyd coatings achieve water-based.
• At the same time, our organotin-free catalysts and APEO-free, VOC-free high-efficiency dispersants pave the way for the transition to green formulations, especially for industrial application fields such as automotive.
In addition, our environmentally friendly rheology modifier products can fully improve the construction performance of waterborne industrial coating systems, meet the needs of downstream customers in a variety of application scenarios, and have achieved many successful commercialization cases in the Chinese market.
Milliken's commitment to sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of Borchers ® Milliken Coating Additives. By practicing the 3R principles of "Reduce, Recycle, Reuse", Borchers ® environmental protection is integrated into every aspect of Product Research & Development and business operations.
Green environmental protection has always been ® Borchers, Milliken's basic philosophy, and part of our corporate culture. Today, many of our products are zero VOC, free of APOE, and free of tin and other harmful substances. In recent years, we have been promoting the development of cobalt-free and MEKO-free alkyd coatings in the paint industry, especially alkyd coatings. China is a big country in alkyd coatings, and the main raw materials of alkyd coatings are bio-based. Our range of products can help create a greener and higher-performance new generation of green alkyd coatings. We think green alkyd has a lot to do.
Jeff Losch, vice president and business manager of Milliken's Coatings Additives business, said: "The Chinese market has a growing demand for environmentally friendly and high-performance coatings, and the green transformation of the coatings industry is of great significance to the world. Borchers ® will continue to work with customers to drive the industry towards a more environmentally friendly and efficient direction through technological innovation and localized services."
Deeply cultivate the Chinese market and promote green transformation
As an important market for Milliken's Borchers ® global strategy, China is leading the way in environmental technology innovation and the green transformation of the coatings industry. At the same time, the Chinese market is the most important growth point for the global coatings industry, especially in the demand for environmentally friendly and high-performance coatings.
Simon J. Oram, vice president of Milliken's Coating Additives business, said, "Following Milliken's acquisition of Borchers ® business, we have continued to increase our investment in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in China. In recent years, we have expanded our Shanghai Technical Service Center, further optimized and upselling channels, and developed products that better meet local needs."
The key exhibits and application examples at this coatings exhibition directly reflect Borchers ®'s commitment to the Chinese market and its advantages in technological innovation and market agility. For example, cobalt-free high-performance driers, zero VOC high-efficiency dispersants and tin-free, APEO-free, PFAS-free rheological modifiers, surface additives and environmentally friendly catalysts have effectively promoted the development of water-based environmentally friendly high-performance coatings, inks and adhesives by Chinese customers.
