On October 31,2024,Hyundai Motor held a press conference with the theme of"Strong Commitment"at the Hyundai Motor Goyang Cultural Center in Seoul,South Korea,at which Hyundai Motor released its latest hydrogen fuel cell concept car called INITIUM.
The word"INITIUM"is derived from Latin and means"starting point"or"first",symbolizing Hyundai Motor's global leadership in hydrogen energy and its strong commitment to advancing the hydrogen energy society.
Based on the INITIUM concept car,Hyundai Motor will launch a new mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in the first half of 2025.The INITIUM concept car embodies Hyundai Motor's 27 years of development in the field of hydrogen energy technology and fully reflects Hyundai Motor's strong commitment to achieving a sustainable hydrogen energy society.
With the release of this hydrogen fuel cell SUV concept model,Hyundai Motor's new design language"Art of Steel"was also unveiled for the first time,which fully reflects the characteristics of HTWO,a hydrogen-focused value chain brand under Hyundai Motor Group.

Hyundai Motor's new design language-"Art of Steel"
At the press conference,Mr.Li Xiangye,Executive Vice President of Hyundai Motor and General Manager of the Global Design Center,introduced in detail the new design language of Hyundai Motor used in the INITIUM concept car-"Art of Steel".
"The challenge of this design language began at the manufacturing stage,and from the very beginning we pushed the plasticity of the steel to the extreme,shaping the steel like a work of art,"said Li Xiangye."In the INITIUM concept car,we designed a more SUV-like shape that is both rugged and safe.Through this human-centered design concept,we reflect Hyundai's strong commitment to users."
In addition,the NITIUM concept car also incorporates HTWO's exclusive elements,symbolizing Hyundai's vision of leading the future with hydrogen energy.Its iconic"+"shaped light and front bumper are integrated into a unique design language exclusive to Hyundai's hydrogen fuel cell vehicles,showing highly recognizable lighting effects and refined and elegant aesthetics.
The unique SUV design aesthetic of the INITIUM concept car perfectly blends the practicality of urban life with the off-road nature of outdoor adventure,achieving a balance of power and refinement through tough lines and sturdy structure.The 21-inch wheels equipped with the INITIUM concept model complement the overall design,and the sturdy roof rack is able to take into account consumers'urban and outdoor needs.
The INITIUM concept vehicle enhances the performance,comfort and safety of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
Hyundai Motor focused on the following three core elements during the development of the INITIUM concept car:first,excellent battery life and excellent performance,which are the core advantages of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles;second,spacious interior and storage space,ideal for family use;third,the unique convenience and safety of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
One of the greatest advantages of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles is their excellent battery life and the resulting convenience.Hyundai Motor has equipped the INITIUM concept car with a large-capacity hydrogen fuel cell system to maximize the vehicle's battery life and fully demonstrate the unique advantages of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
In addition,the INITIUM concept car is also equipped with low wind resistance wheels and low roll resistance tires to reduce drag,with a range of more than 650 kilometers.
In terms of performance,the INITIUM concept car has excellent acceleration ability and stable overtaking ability.Thanks to the continuous development of Hyundai Motor in the field of hydrogen fuel cell system technology,the output power of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles has been increased,and the battery capacity has been enhanced,so that the motor output power can reach 150kW,providing drivers with a smoother driving experience in cities and highways.
The spacious interior space and flexibility make the INITIUM concept car a very suitable SUV model for family use.The second row of seat backs can be tilted at a large angle,providing more space for the second row of passengers and significantly improving the comfort of the ride.The body is wide and the rear door opening is large,making it more convenient for rear passengers to get on and off.

In addition,the INITIUM concept vehicle's hydrogen fuel cell system provides electricity without emitting any pollutants,powering household appliances and personal devices through the"On-Board Power"function(V2L).In particular,the outdoor port can be directly connected to a 220-volt household outlet,transforming INITIUM from a vehicle to a potential energy supply device.
