On 21 August 2018 (Tuesday), Sha Tin Branch of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a gala dinner at Hyatt Regency Sha Tin for 27 seats.
The officiating guests on the evening were; Head of the New Territories Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong Mr Chung Yi, Sha Tin District Officer, Ms Chan Wan-man,JP, Chairman of Sha Tin District Council, Hon Ho Hou-cheung, BBS,MH, Deputy to the National People's Congress, Chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Wong Ting-chung,JP, Chairman of Sha Tin Rural Committee, Hon Mo Kam-kwai, BBS and Chief Superintendent Mak Lau Wai-min, Commander of Sha Tin District, Hong Kong Police Force.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Sha Tin Branch of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Lau Ti-hung, said: "In the past year, under the leadership of the new Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, Hong Kong has made a good start with strong and stable governance. The people have benefited from this. Hong Kong's unemployment rate has fallen to 2.8%, the lowest level in more than 20 years. The Bill on "Guangzhou-Shenzhen and Hong Kong Iron Complexes" has been passed and the Hong Kong section of the high-speed railway will be opened to traffic in the third quarter. Hong Kong people will be able to take advantage of an efficient high-speed railway that is unique to tourism, business and family visits between China and Hong Kong. This year, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will be fully operational. The Blueprint for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will showcase new opportunities for the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Hong Kong can play its role as an international financial center, ride the express train of national development from its legal, human and creative strengths, share the dividends of national development, and build a community of shared future with the mainland. This year, the 17th Executive Committee of Sha Tin Branch is made up of a group of educated and motivated young people. We will do our best to promote the development of the association and strengthen the strength of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
