At the launch ceremony in Beijing, the EU Ambassador to China, His Excellency Mr Schweig, officially announced the launch of the EU Business Gateway China Initiative and highlighted the important role of similar initiatives to promote EU-China business cooperation and investment. The first business mission of the European Gateway to China programme brought European companies in the clean technology sector to China for docking activities.
In his speech, the Ambassador said, "I am confident that European companies and Chinese companies will seize the opportunity to build a new clean technology partnership."

Liu Dashan, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Corporation, also congratulated the success of the mission at the launch ceremony of the European Enterprise China Gateway Program and highlighted the complementarity between the EU and China's clean technology markets and industry leaders. "The Gateway Project for European Enterprises in China is highly consistent with China's concept of" green and sustainable development "in energy conservation. The business delegation covered a wide range of high-tech fields, including biomass energy, biogas, energy efficiency and energy-saving technology, air pollution control, wastewater treatment, solid pollution management, recycling, land pollution prevention and treatment, etc. European companies have developed mature technologies in these fields to meet the needs of the Chinese market. And the timing is good for the Chinese government to put in place proactive policies to build an increasingly sustainable economy.

European companies will showcase their technologies and products and hold business talks with potential domestic partners.
During the Business Visit Week, European Business Gateway China arranges a number of field trips to give European companies a real understanding of the opportunities and challenges they face in China's rapidly growing industries.
The first clean technology business mission of Enterprise China Gateway Project has received strong support from domestic partners.
